Overall Rating
The Audi Q3 is set to receive some welcome changes for the 2022 model year which might include minor updates to the exterior design.
The 2022 Audi Q3 has been launched in the market with prices starting at just $34,900. It does get a few changes from last year which include the latest 3rd Generation MIB infotainment system and previously optional aluminum inlays as standard equipment on the interior. Along with this, the Audi side assists with rear cross-traffic and Audi parking system plus safety and driver-assist features are added as standard to the Q3. There are also improvements to the optional packages.
The 2022 Audi Q3 continues with the same two trims - Premium and Premium Plus and the same engine - a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline-4 with two engine outputs - 184 hp and 228 hp. With an update to the exterior in the 2021 model year, there are no changes to its dimensions as well. The interior does continue to be luxurious with leather upholstery and heated power-adjustable seats. All come within the starting MSRP of $34,900, bringing it into competition with the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, and Volvo XC40.
Although it's now the most expensive model, the Premium Plus trim still represents the best buy in the Q3 lineup. With this trim, you get Audi’s virtual cockpit, which does make a lot of difference when it comes to convenience. While the base trim comes equipped with an 8.8” touchscreen infotainment display as standard, the bigger 10.1” infotainment display is available as an option with the “Technology Package”.

The 2022 Audi Q3 comes with minor changes from the previous model year. However, in terms of trims it continues with the same two trims - Premium and Premium Plus, prices seeing a rise by $900, now starting at $34,900. Both trims do come with the single-engine option but with two names depending on the power output - 40 TFSI and 45 TFSI S-line.
The 2022 Audi Q3 will also come standard with the famous Quattro system. There are not many differences between the Premium and Premium Plus trims or the S-line versions of them. However, there is a larger variety of options available for the Premium Plus trims, giving more choices for a owner to choose from.

New for the 2022 Q3 is an improved optional Convenience Package which now includes 8-way power front seats with memory for the driver’s seat, auto-dimming power-folding mirrors with memory, and a Homelink garage door opener. However, irrespective of the trim you select you will end up with a well-equipped Audi Q3.
Priced at an MSRP of $34,900, the 2022 Audi Q3 Premium with the 40 TFSI engine is the one to get, we say this because, it comes with many luxuries like leather upholstery, heated seats, panoramic sunroof, LED exterior lights, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, and 10.25-inch instrument cluster, all as standard, we would recommend getting the optional rear-seat side airbags and also a set of 19-inch wheels which look better.

The little SUV also moves with the same grace as its larger siblings when pitched down a twisty section of road - Car And Driver
The 2022 Audi Q3 carries forward the same engine as the 2021 model year - a 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 which makes either 184 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque in the 40 TFSI model. The same engine in the 45 TFSI version of the SUV will make 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Getting the 228hp 45 TFSI will also add to the cost by $2,300.
Irrespective of the engine output you select, the 2022 Audi Q3 will come with an 8-speed automatic with the power directed to the famous Quattro (AWD) system. This will keep the traction up at all times giving maximum grip allowing it to even take on curvy roads and even light off-roading (rough path).

The 2022 Audi Q3 carrying forward all the mechanical parts with no changes will continue to carry forward the EPA estimated MPG figures from the 2021 model year. In its base configuration with the 40 TFSI engine, it gives 22 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and a combined 25 mpg. With the 45 TFSI engine, the fuel economy figures reduce by 2 mpg in all criteria.

Along with this, the system will come with Bluetooth connectivity, voice commands, and navigation, multiple USB ports, and a 10-speaker sound system. The exterior features a wide grille, aluminum roof rails, LED headlights and taillights including dynamic indicators, LED front and rear fog lights, power-adjustable heated side mirrors (memory function in the convenience package), roof spoiler, and 18-inch wheels which can be upgraded up to 20-inch wheels on the Premium Plus package.

In terms of dimensions, the 2022 Audi Q3 is the longest of the above measuring 176.6 inches in length, it is the longest by 0.3-inches over the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class which has the longest wheelbase measuring 107.4-inches. The Volvo XC40 is the widest of the above measuring 75.2-inches and also has the highest ground clearance of the above of 8.3-inches.
The 2022 Audi Q3 has not yet been crash-tested by the IIHS, it did test the 2021 model which got an overall "Good" rating. However, the NHTSA has crash-tested the 2022 Audi Q3 and has given it an overall 5 star safety rating out of a potential 5-stars.
New for the 2022 model in terms of safety features is the addition of Audi Side Assist with Rear-Cross Traffic Alert and Audi Parking System plus as standard features from being previously optional. This comes along with many safety and driver-assist features which include:
The BMW X1 in its standard configuration does make more power than the Audi Q3 and even performs better too. Along with this it also offers better MPG figures and longer driving range and more space on the interior including more cargo space. However, the BMW X1 is priced higher (marginally) than the Audi Q3, but for being better in all comparisons, it is worth the extra money.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class does come with more power and better performance, and even offers the best mpg figures, but the Q3 comes with a much better driving range and also more trunk space, and is more practical. With the GLA-Class comes a very comfortable interior and has more interior space as well, but this also comes with a higher price, making the GLA-Class a good option for the Q3.
2022 Audi Q3 vs 2022 Volvo XC40
The Volvo XC40 makes just 3 hp more than the Audi Q3 but is slower in performance. The Volvo XC40 does come with better mpg figures as well but loses out on driving range because of the smaller fuel tank. The Audi also comes with more trunk space than the XC40. That said, the XC40 is more affordable making it a good option to consider instead of the Q3.
With new interior features in terms of technology and materials and safety and driver-assist features added to the 2022 Audi Q3, it makes the Q3 a better version compared to the 2021 model, making this a model year worth buying. Not to mention the Quattro system which gives it a unique driving dynamic as well, setting it apart from the rest.
