Overall Rating
The 2022 Audi Q7 comes with improvements in safety features and adds a few convenience features across the trims. The Audi Q7 will continue to offer its two engines named 45 TFSI and 55 TFSI (mild hybrid system) and will continue the three trims - Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The 2022 Q7 does not have any changes to the dimensions and interior features. The 2022 Q7 has a release date of Fall 2021 and will come at a starting price of $55,800.
The 2022 Audi Q7 has been launched in the market with some new & premium features added to the lineup and no special changes being made to the mechanicals of the SUV. With the engines remaining the same as last year, the 2022 Q7 will be powered by a 2.0L Turbocharged I4 engine as standard, while the more powerful 3.0L V6 is be reserved for the mild-hybrid version 55 TFSI model. We also get an updated MMI interface for the new Q7 as well. Prices for the 2022 Audi Q7 start at $55,800.
The new Q7 line-up will also include 2 different trim levels: Premium, and Premium Plus, priced at an MSRP of $55,800 and $58,700 respectively. The Prestige model is only available in the 55 TFSI model. To add to the value, the 2022 Audi Q7 can now opt with the Black Optic package along with all the trim levels. Talking of rivals, the Q7 will go head-to-head with the likes of the BMW X5, Acura MDX, and Jaguar F Pace.
The Premium Plus gets our recommendation because of all the flexibility its packing. The features on offer are a very generous upgrade over the Premium and the price at which the trim lies makes the Prestige’s increment unjustifiable. Furthermore, the Premium Plus can be had in a V6 like the Prestige which makes it all the more lucrative.

As before, the 2022 Audi Q7 will be offered with a choice of two engines-a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine known as the 45 TFSI and a more powerful 3.0L turbocharged V-6 engine known as the 55 TFSI. The 45 TFSI engine is offered as standard with the Premium & Premium Plus trim levels. However, the top-of-the-line Q7 Prestige trim is offered with the 3.0L turbocharged V6 with the mild-hybrid system.
The transmission duties for the 2022 Audi Q7 are dealt with an eight-speed automatic and the 2022 Q7 will also be offered with the all-wheel-drive configuration as standard. As there aren't any major changes made to the 2022 Audi Q7 performance, the 0-60 MPH sprint should take about 5.7 seconds. Overall, the Q7 as always will be a confident competitor in its segment.

The 2022 Audi Q7 with the 55 TFSI engine is one of the most powerful SUVs in the segment. With 355 hp at their disposal, the Q7 & the BMW X5 are the closest competitors. However, the Audi gets the maximum torque, thanks to the 8-Speed Tiptronic transmission along with the brilliant Quattro All-Wheel-Drive configuration.
"We expect the four-cylinder Q7 to return similar results to the 2017 model we tested, which delivered 26 mpg on our 200-mile highway loop."- Caranddriver.com
The 2022 Audi Q7 is surely not one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in its segment and one doesn't expect the same while buying an SUV of this size. With the 2.0L Turbocharged I4 engine, the 2022 Q7 will offer fuel economy figures of 19 MPG in the city, 23 MPG on the highways, giving the Q7 21 MPG combined.
With the more powerful, 3.0L Turbocharged V6 under the hood, the numbers can drop to 18 MPG in the city, 23 MPG on the highways & 20 MPG combined.

The fuel capacity remains unchanged with 22.5 gallons as standard. The 2021 BMW X5 and the 2021 Jaguar F-Pace are the most fuel-efficient SUVs in the segment. The X5 offers 23 MPG combined, with an excellent 26 MPG on the highways. The Q7 all in all will be the least fuel-efficient SUV amongst its rivals.
Neither daring nor dull, the 2021 Audi Q7 won't go out of style any time this decade - Thecarconnection.com
The 2022 Audi Q7 interiors are well-appointed and have a good built quality, featuring the same design and layout as the 2021 model year which is simple yet sophisticated. There is a sense of timeless elegance that can be observed in the car and this is something it has not lost over the years. One of the biggest advantages of the Q7 is its seating capacity that is for seven passengers.
The interior will feature heated power-adjustable seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and wood interior trims. New for the 2022 model year is interior ambient lighting across all trims as a standard feature. The features do improve over the higher trims like seat ventilation and premium perforated leather. The Audi Q7 will offer a cargo capacity of 14.8 cu.ft.

As we have already mentioned, the seating capacity for seven passengers is only provided in the Q7 and the Acura MDX. The Q7 however remains a little more spacious in almost every respect compared to the Acura. Even when you compare it with its five seated rivals, Q7 is very spacious and this is what has been the trump card for the car for very long.
The 2022 Audi Q7 will get three touchscreen panels. The primary infotainment screen is a 10.1” touchscreen panel that can configure most of the car. There is an additional 12.3” display, which is powered by an Audi Virtual Cockpit assistance system for your instrument cluster. The climate control and seat functions are controlled by another 8.6-inch screen which is also very convenient to use. It also has standard amenities like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
"For something with three seating rows, the 2022 Q7 doesn’t look at all like a bus" - Kelly Blue Book
The exterior styling of the Audi Q7 is something we’ve liked for a very long time. The 2022 Q7 carries forward the 2021 model year exterior design. The current generation has been the second generation of the SUV and has been going since 2017. The styling still looks fresh, more than five years later. The SUV looks very sophisticated yet carries a rugged appeal.
We also think that Audi pulls of bigger grills better than anybody (cough, cough, BMW, cough). The Q7 is also expected to carry forward its 10 color options and wheel designs. New additions for the 2022 Q7 include heated auto-dimming, and power-folding exterior mirrors with memory and the available Black optic package for sporty looks.

The Q7 is a heavier car compared to its class mostly because of its larger size. But this also comes with the added advantage of accommodating passengers easily in the third row. In terms of the Q7 Dimensions, its dimensions are certainly large and remain the biggest in length and wheelbase, nearly half a foot more than Acura MDX in wheelbase and 13-inches more than the Jaguar F-Pace.
"Several driver-assistance features are either standard or optional on the Q7, which will make it attractive to buyers transporting precious cargo."- Caranddriver.com
The Q7 is one of the safest cars around with an NHTSA crash test rating of five stars for the 2020 model to which the 2022 model resembles in almost every respect. Although the 2021 Audi Q7 has not been tested completely yet, however, it received a 5-Star rating in the side crash test.
In addition to all the standard equipment that was offered with the 2021 Audi Q7, the 2022 Q7 adds more insightful features like rear side airbags as standard on all trims with Adaptive Cruise Control & Lane Keeping Assist system with the Premium Plus trim. Some of the most notable safety features of the 2022 Audi Q7 are:
The 2021 BMW X5, which starts from $59,400 comes in at a premium over the Audi in its base avatar. Despite being similarly powerful, the 2021 X5 edges out the Audi in terms of 0-60 MPH time. The 2021 BMW X5 is also more fun to drive than the Audi as well. However, if you fancy comfort and opulence over everything, we think that the Audi Q7 is a better bet and also is the one that offers a better value for money.
The Acura MDX is one of the more reliable SUVs in its category, which can seat 7 people without any issues, and while offering superior gas mileage as well. The MDX has received a massive update in the form of its 2022 version that brings in massive design changes and interior updates, making it a worthy rival to the Audi. However, if you still prefer a more value-friendly proposition, we still feel that the Audi has the edge over the Acura by the smallest of margins.
The 2021 Jaguar F-Pace is hands-down, the most value proposition in its segment right now. Being nearly $5,000 cheaper than the previous Audi Q7, the Jag feels even more value compared to the 2022 model. The Jaguar F-Pace looks cooler with an impressive exterior and interior design but doesn't feel as well put together as the Q7. The Q7 is also the punchier of the two to drive around and that can be seen in the raw performance data as well.
The 2022 Audi Q7 is a wise choice for people from many different walks of life. It is a well-designed, practical, and safe SUV also delivers decent performance. With prices ranging between $55,800-$58,700 for the 45 TFSI models, the Q7 offers a lot of variety to its customers, with the option of even upgrading to a powerful V6 as well.
But since the generation has remained largely unchanged from 2016, one can also find cars in the used car market that are in mint condition. That said if you want the peace of mind that comes with the new vehicle and warranty you should definitely go for a new car. It is one of the best that Audi offers and we can certainly recommend this vehicle in many garages.
