At an expected price of $74,400, the Audi S6 is worth every dollar you spend on it. With the brand’s traditional visual cockpit, dual-screen setup, and abundant comfort creatures and safety specifications, the sport sedan make for an irresistible choice over its German and Italian counterparts.
The current generation of the Audi S6 had received a major update in the 2020 model year. However, the 2022 S6 is mainly a carryover model but comes with a few changes which sees the addition of rear-side airbags and a direct tire-pressure monitoring system which was previously optional now standard. It also sees the addition of new optional features of carbon twill structure inlays and new 21-inch wheels to the optional black optic package.
The rest of the car is carried forward and features a 2.9L twin-turbocharged V6, the famous Quattro system, power-adjustable heated front row seats, leather interior upholstery, Audi's dual-infotainment system, and the many safety features that have been increased for this year. Audi offers the 2022 S6 in the same Premium Plus and Prestige trims with prices starting at an MSRP of $74,800. This brings the 2022 S6 into competition with the BMW M550i, Maserati Ghibli S, and the Mercedes-Benz AMG E53.
The 2022 Audi S6 is available in the same two trims as the 2021 model year - Premium Plus and Prestige that carry an expected price of $74,800 and $81,500 respectively. While both trims make use of a similar engine setup - a twin-turbocharged V6 engines, they are distinguished from the other by the set of features they possess.
As standard, the S6 comes equipped with features like auto-leveling headlights, traction control, and a heated steering wheel. With the latest iteration, Audi also adds the previously optional direct tire pressure monitor and rear side airbags as part of the standard equipment offered. Some of its other trim-wise features include:

It is only the Maserati Ghibli S that has a considerably lower amount of space but comes with a lot more cargo space. The 2022 Audi S6 makes use of the brand’s traditional MMI software to control its infotainment system. There are two touchscreen units on offer.

Besides a telltale quad-tipped exhaust system, not much gives away its sporting edge. - MotorTrend
There are no changes to the exterior design and styling of the 2022 Audi S6 from the 2021 model year. The matrix headlights of the 2022 Audi S6 give it an undeniably attractive upfront fascia. The huge single-frame grille with chrome trim provides a holistic look to the sedan and complements well the sculpted hood design.
At the rear end as well, it’s a story of simplistic yet modern design. The chrome line that runs through the LED taillights adds depth to the character. The dual exhaust openings on both sides give a sportier appearance. There is the optional Black Optics package which gives it large 21-inch wheels (new design for 2022 model year) black exterior accents.

The 2022 Audi S6 has not yet completed the NHTSA crash-testing, it has completed the roll-over test where it has scored 5-stars. But the NHTSA has completely tested the 2022 Audi A6 which the S6 shares its structure and platform and has scored a full 5-stars.
The IIHS has not tested the 2022 S6 or A6 but has tested the 2021 A6 which has awarded it the Top Safety Pick+ award. For the 2022 model year, Audi has made the optional rear-side airbags and direct tire pressure monitoring system as standard equipment. Coming well equipped with many features as standard Some notable safety specifications include:
The BMW M550i manages to provide stiff competition to the S6. While it does lead in terms of brute power and consequently, performance, the Audi manages to gain a domineering position in the segment virtue of its efficiency, higher interior space, and a fully-loaded safety system. While they are almost equally priced, the final decision will depend solely on the performance quotient.
In terms of acceleration, to our surprise, the fuel-frugal Mercedes-Benz AMG E 53 and Audi S6 manage similar timings in each test conducted. However, the Audi S6 does have higher space for rear-seat passengers. Both vehicles feature the latest infotainment systems and with an MSRP difference of $500, the decision will wholly be subjective.
The Maserati Ghibli S is a true sports sedan. It is quick, efficient, luxuriant, and spacious. However, it seems that in everything that Maserati does, Audi does it better. Most importantly, the 2022 S6 manages to deliver a higher level of performance than the Ghibli S at a price tag that is more than $7,000 cheaper.
The 2022 Audi S6 is an ideal balance of performance and luxury in a family sedan. The twin-turbocharged V6 comes with enough power to make one happy and the Quattro system works well to give a unique driving dynamic. The interior of the Audi S6 offers a lot of comforts and no lack of technology. For 2022 this aspect has been enhanced with added safety features and more optional styling options, making it a good buy.
