The 2022 BMW M4 comes with a base price of $71,800, while the more powerful M4 Competition trims costs around $74,700. The M4 comes standard with RWD while the option AWD variant of the M4 Competition will cost you $78,800. The 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder engine is standard across the 2022 M4 range but is tuned to produce more power in the Competition trims. 

Standard features on the Coupe include 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels with performance tires, M Sport rear differential for improved traction, adjustable drive modes, and adaptive suspension dampers. There is also the Driving Assistance Professional Package costing $1,700 which adds more advanced safety features. The $1,800 Executive Package adds more premium amenities to the 2022 BMW M4.

Since the 2022 BMW M4 is a standalone model, it is the recommended one as well. The 2022 BMW M4 comes with the 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 473 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. In the M4 Competition, the same engine is tuned to produce 503 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. RWD is standard and the 2022 BMW M4 Competition offers the option of upgrading to an AWD system.  

The standard model of the 2022 BMW M4 features a manual transmission while the M4 Competition features an 8-speed M Sport automatic transmission. Adaptive dampers, adjustable brake pedal, and an electronically regulated exhaust system are included on every M4. The 2022 BMW M4 Competition xDrive variant features 4WD, 4WD Sport, and 2WD drive modes.

The base model of the 2022 BMW M4 can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds while the Competition trim can complete the 0-60 run in 3.8 seconds and with the XDrive AWD system, the time further reduces to 3.4 seconds. The 2022 BMW M4 has a top speed of 155 MPH and can complete the quarter-mile run in 12 seconds.

The 2022 BMW M4 offers 18 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway, making a combined 20 MPG. In terms of efficiency, the BMW M4 doesn't have much to offer. To top it all, the 2022 BMW M4 coupe is equipped with a 15.6 gallon fuel tank. This means the 2022 BMW M4 will get a combined range of around 316 miles.  

The Mercedes AMG C 63 and the Audi RS 5 offers better fuel economy than the BMW M4 with 21 MPG. The Lexus RC F is the least economical with 19 MPG combined. The Lexus and the Mercedes AMG C 63 offer the biggest fuel capacity in the range, coming at 17.4 gallons.

The 2022 BMW M4 features a more pronounced vertical kidney grille, sculpted hood, and an Icon Adaptive LED headlights with Laserlight. The M4 Coupe looks menacing and sporty, with its standard carbon fiber roof sports fins and side gills. There is also an standard rear diffuser and trunk spoiler for better aerodynamic performance and enhances the appeal of the 2022 M4. 

The 19/20" M Double-spoke wheels are standard with the 2022 BMW M4. There are also 13 exterior color options to choose from. The Dravit Grey Metallic, Tanzanite Blue II Metallic, and Aventurin Red Metallic paint options will cost you an additional $1,950 while the Frozen Brilliant White metallic and Frozen Portimao Blue metallic color options will cost an extra $3,600. 

When compared to the competition. the 2022 BMW M4 is the lightest in the range and has the longest wheelbase. The Mercedes AMG C 63 sits the lowest with ground clearance of 3.6" followed by the Audi RS 5. The BMW is wider, and as a result offers more space inside the cabin.

The BMW M4 offers more power than the AMG C 63, while the latter can accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH quicker. The BMW M4 offers more space inside the cabin and better fuel economy, but falls short when it comes to cargo space. The 2022 M4 also offers better safety features compared to the Mercedes Benz AMG C 63. 

2022 BMW M4 Coupe vs 2022 Audi RS 5

The 2021 M4's price point gives it a heavy edge over the Audi RS 5. While the Audi features AWD as standard, the XDrive AWD system is only available for the M4 Competition model and it will bring the cost up to $78,800. The standard 2022 M4 also boasts 29 extra hp over the RS 5 and for over $4000 cheaper MSRP. In terms of technology, both the German outfits offer plenty of features laden gadgets and amenities. 

2022 BMW M4 Coupe vs 2022 Lexus RC F Coupe

The Lexus RC F comes at a lower price and can match the 2022 BMW M4 in terms of power output. Like the BMW M4, the Lexus RC F is offered with RWD as standard but can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds compared to the 4.1 seconds that's needed by the BMW M4. The Lexus does offer plenty of features, but the BMW M4 offers a more streamlined functionality and feature set.  

The 2022 BMW M4 offers an interesting choice with a powerful engine and a 6-speed manual transmission that's powering the rear wheels. It offers great driving dynamics and plenty of character. The Competition model with the available XDrive AWD system, adds more choice for the buyers and comes with more power. The 2022 BMW M4 is a splendid choice for enthusiasts and for those who drive for the love of it.
