Overall Rating
Chevrolet has brought out the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer. The rugged body of the car, combined with the turbocharged engine, from last year, the Blazer is going to compete at the big boy's table in the midsize segment.
The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer gets a handful of changes to its trims and configurations, starting with the L and 1LT trims being removed from the lineup altogether. This also implies that the previously base 2.5-liter four-cylinder will be replaced by the 2.0L turbo-four as the new standard powertrain choice. Other changes in this new Chevy include a new Trailering Package that will now come standard with the AWD models while the top-spec Premier trim gets an upgraded Enhanced Convenience Package as well. With these changes, the 2022 Blazer starts off at an MSRP of $33,400, i.e., taking the price hike to over $5k over last year.
FWD is standard on all the models while opting for the AWD system will drive the price up by an additional $2,700. The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer offers comfortable seating for 5 people and comes with plenty of cargo space. The base model offers a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. If you prefer the Blazer RS, it will come with a 3.6-liter V6 engine with a 4,500 lbs towing capacity.  Also, two new exterior color choices - Nitro Yellow and Blue Glow - have been added to the palette.Â
The now base 2LT trim packs in a lot of bells and whistles and is a superb VFM proposition taking all things into consideration and which is why it is our recommendation as the trim to choose.

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer cozies up to suburbia with crossover bona fides, and ditches its former truck roots. - The Car Connection
Unlike the 2021 Blazer, which is offered in a total of 6 trims - L, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, RS (reviewed separately), and Premier - the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer will be offered in just 4 trims. The lineup has been trimmed with Chevrolet deciding to discard the base L and 1LT trims. Reports have confirmed that Chevy will begin production of the 2022 Blazer compact SUV in August.

So buyers looking to own a new Blazer can expect deliveries to begin sometime in the fall of this year. Prices are yet to be disclosed, however, considering how the 2021 Blazer 2LT starts off just under $35,000, the 2022 model will carry a similar starting MSRP, as the 2LT model will now serve as the base model.

With steady composure and accurate steering, the Blazer is easily the best-driving crossover to wear the Chevrolet bow tie. - Car and Driver
If you talk about the powertrain in the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer, it is supposed to get the 230 hp 2.0-liter turbo-four as standard, replacing the 2.5L inline-4 engine which pours out 193 horses. Power can be sent either to the front wheels or all the wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. On the 2022 Blazer AWD models, buyers will get a Trailering Package as standard, which will allow the compact SUV to tow a maximum of 3500 lbs.
Compared to its rivals, the 2022 Blazer will be too heavily powered. It's amongst the top performers beaten only by the Ford Edge that has a 250 hp 2.0L turbo-four. Unsurprisingly though, the front-wheel-drive only Blazer with the 2.0-liter engine runs from 0-60 mph in 7.8 seconds while the quarter-mile is reached in 16 seconds. The braking department is headed by ventilated discs with ABS in all four corners. The brake pedal feels firm and strong and actively responds to driver inputs.

Take the Blazer out for a spin and in no time you realize how well it drives. Its driving dynamics very well complement its sporty and aggressive exterior appeal. It offers a comfortable ride quality with the suspension being very observant. However, when equipped with a larger set of 21-inch wheels, the ride quality does degrade by a fair extent. Otherwise, the steering wheel is very precise in its business making it a sporty and agile handler.

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is expected to give out an average MPG of 22 in the city, 29 on the highway, and 25 combined in its FWD configuration. Opting for the AWD drive type reduces fuel economy to 27 on the highways and 24 combined, but city mpg remains unaltered. The fuel tank capacity of 19.4 gallons pushes the highway range of the car up to 563 miles, which is simply best-in-class.

When compared to the rivals, the Toyota RAV4 surpasses all others with an impressive 35 MPG on the highway. But its smaller fuel tank makes it suffer on longer trips. The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer has only average MPG ratings, but it has the biggest fuel tank, which takes its range to a much better level in comparison to the competition.

Slipping in and out of the cabin is easy, but the Blazer's sloping roofline restricts rear headroom for 6-foot-plus passengers. - Edmunds
The interior of the Chevrolet Blazer could receive some touch-up as compared to the previous year's model. Otherwise, Chevrolet has already made the car’s interior more sporty with high-performance elements inside. Everything is neatly laid out and the cabin looks clutter-free, with decent outward visibility.
Speaking of comfort, the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is equipped enough to comfortably seat 5 passengers inside the cabin. The rear row is well spaced out for adults as well as children. Also, the premium trims receive luxury features like leather upholstery and an upscale infotainment system as standard.

Still, the Blazer is not the most spacious car in the segment. The Hyundai Santa Fe outshines all the other compact SUVs with the most space in both its rows. However, the Ford Edge is the most practical with a 39.2 cu-ft boot. For infotainment, every Blazer model is equipped with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
A sensible display layout allowing you to create multiple driver profiles with predefined climate, audio, and lighting preferences, and USB ports for the front and back rows. The base trim levels offer a good 6-speaker sound system, which can be upgraded to an 8-speaker Bose premium sound system (standard on the LT3 and Premier trims).

With a fierce face and chiseled bodywork, the 2022 Chevy Blazer is arguably the most assertive-looking mid-size crossover in its class. - Car and Driver
Speaking of the exteriors, the overall layout of the Blazer will remain similar to the previous year's models. The newer model comes in several colorways, which now includes a full black trim that looks absolutely premium. The front grille and the exhaust system remain the same, which might indicate no major powertrain change, but we all know that's not the case.
Nonetheless, this compact SUV is one of the sportiest-looking cars in its segment. Now thanks to its 230 hp base motor, it can also drive like one. However, if you are looking for even more performance and panache, you can check out the Chevrolet Blazer RS that has a 308 hp V6 and unique RS-specific styling.

At nearly 4000 lbs, the Chevrolet Blazer is also one of the heaviest cars in the compact SUV segment. Although, you won't feel all that weight while driving it around as the car is quite responsive. Among rivals, the Toyota RAV4 is the lightest SUV. Tha paired with its naturally aspirated motor explains its excellent fuel economy ratings.

Chevrolet has worked a lot on providing the utmost safety to its consumers buying the 2022 Blazer. To make things safer, Chevy offers an additional safety package, which includes forward collision warning and mitigation system, forward pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and even automatic headlights.
In addition to these, the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer also receives other safety features like:
The RAV4 has been Toyota’s best-selling SUV for all the right reasons. Unlike the city-dwelling Blazer, the RAV4 carries some serious off-roading skills and feels more solid and robust. The engine might seem underpowered and not as intriguing as the Blazer, but it very well balances its multi-utility. The interior space is slightly more cramped than the Blazer but the fit and finish, as well as the interior layout, are far better than the Chevy.
The elegant and classy Korean is one of the most value-bound products in its segment. Unlike the Blazer’s sporty ambitions, the Hyundai Santa Fe focuses more on comfort and convenience. It might not be as good as the Chevy in handling, but it offers a far better ride quality and comfort. Compared to the Blazer, the Santa Fe is miles ahead in terms of interior fit and finish and feature packaging.
The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer is expected to be priced around the $35,000 mark, which is justified with what the car has to offer. The compact SUV is expected to be out in the fall of 2021, which is what can be said about the launch after analyzing the manufacturer’s usual release dates. Overall, if you’re interested to pick up a compact SUV that is feature-loaded, spacious, and now a lot more engaging to drive, then you should definitely keep an eye out for the Chevy Blazer.
