The 2021 Chevy Traverse will go on sale in late 2021 and come with a base MSRP of $34,895, which is $3900 higher than the 2021 model. All trims of the 2022 Traverse come standard with FWD and a 3.6-liter V-6 engine, while AWD is available for a price between $2000–$3800, depending on trim level. Chevrolet has discontinued the L trim and for 2022 and the LS will take its place as the base trim.   

The Traverse comes in five trims: LS, LT, RS, Premier, and High Country. For 2022, Traverse's lower trims gain more standard features and options as well. The LT models make excellent choices for most buyers in terms of value. Chevy will offer the 2022 Traverse special appearance package called the Midnight/Sport Package on LS and LT trims, which will cost an extra $995.

Lower trims of the Chevy Traverse offer loads at little but fail to provide customers with enough to not leave one wanting more. Right from the powertrain to the cabin materials used, everything gets upgraded once you reach the High Country trim. Unfortunately, the prices run rampant up the trim ladder, and the High Country variant doesn’t share the same value for money principles as the Base trim but is a better choice to live with, especially in the long term.

The 3.6-liter V-6 pulls strongly and the Traverse is on the quicker end of its class- CarAndDriver

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse comes with a standard 3.6-liter V6 that makes an ample 310 horsepower. The engine is paired with a smooth-shifting 9-speed automatic transmission. The Traverse comes standard with front-wheel drive (FWD). The available AWD system comes at an additional cost but makes sure that the Traverse offers adequate off-road capabilities and ample grip in adverse weather.

For maximum traction, the Traverse High Country adds a dual-clutch transfer system that can automatically adjust the amount of torque going to each rear wheel, further preventing slippage. The 2022 Traverse's engine idles start/stop feature can now be disabled. The Traverse's suspension is tuned to provide a balance between handling and ride comfort. With the proper equipment, Chevy Traverse SUV can tow up to 5,000 lbs.

Interestingly, the Traverse is quicker than it looks and exhibits best-in-segment 0-60 mph acceleration time. The AWD Traverse takes 6.9 sec to sprint from 0-60 mph in a straight line. The Chevrolet Traverse completes the standing quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds, beating the seemingly underpowered Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade but loses out to the Ford Explorer, which completes the same sprint in 15.3 seconds.

The Traverse is inherently a comfortable cruiser with a silent interior that can accommodate a lot of people comfortably. At slow speeds, the size of the mid-size three-row Chevy is evident but as you pick pace, the SUV is agile. It doesn't handle with as much agility as rivals, and there's noticeable body roll around corners. However, the Ford Explorer manages to trump its competition and their V6 engines, beating even the Traverse from zero to sixty.

Among three-row crossovers, the Traverse is relatively fuel-efficient- The Car Connection

The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse is mechanically unchanged and is expected to return similar mpg ratings as the current 2021 model. The Traverse with standard FWD offers 18 MPG in the city, and 27 MPG on the highway. 

With all-wheel drive, ratings drop to 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The V6 offers an above-average fuel economy in the midsize three-row SUVs class. The FWD-equipped Traverse has a 19.4-gallon fuel capacity, while the tank size increases to 21.7 gallons with the AWD drivetrain. 

Chevrolet Traverse is holding up really well against its rivals in mpg figures, despite a higher power output and towing capacity. The fuel economy offered by the Traverse isn’t too far behind the competition, and the larger fuel tank makes it slightly better than rivals for longer journeys. They might not be the best, but Traverse’s MPG figures are very competitive against the rivals, especially considering the power output.

The Traverse provides spacious accommodations for seven or eight passengers, including a third row sized for adults- CarAndDriver

The biggest highlight of the Traverse is its class-leading interior that provides enough space to accommodate seven or eight passengers comfortably. All Traverse trims have three rows of seats but you can opt for captain’s seats in the second row.  For 2022, the slightly updated interior design gets better features such as new upholstery options, a better instrument cluster, and an updated infotainment setup.

The comfortable seats have standard cloth upholstery and you have optional leatherette upholstery. With second and third rows folded, you have up to 98 cubic feet of cargo space. New this year is an optional 8-inch digital display on higher trims that complements the central touchscreen display. The 2022 Traverse also gains available wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. A twin-panel sunroof is also available, as is a new rear power sunshade.

Adequate noise insulation in the cabin makes for a pleasant experience, and the available room in the cabin is evenly divided across all three rows of seating. Interior materials get better towards higher trims as you get leather upholstery with chrome and metal-look accents.

The dashboard is designed right, placing all necessary functions and buttons well within reach; the updated infotainment is also a significant improvement regarding being user-friendly. More features available in the 2022 Chevy Traverse’ cabin are:

Nevertheless, the Traverse is not the most spacious in the segment, with the Hyundai Palisade offering the most spacious front row seating. The 2022 Traverse gets a fresh exterior look with new LED headlamps and taillamps. The front fascia gets sharper DRLs and at the rear, we have thinner LED taillamps. The bumper is upgraded for better clearance where the fog lamps are heightened as well. The RS trim offers the most sporty exterior design with a glossy grille and alloy wheels. There are four new wheel designs and a revised appearance with the Redline Edition and Midnight/Sport Edition can be availed on the LS and LT trims.

The Traverse seems capable and stronger than ever. The design slightly resembles the bigger Chevrolet vehicles as the all-new Traverse is made bigger and better. It shouldn’t disappoint you on long highway routes or the muddy off-roads with better ground clearance and aerodynamic design.

Don't let the chiseled exterior of the Traverse fool you, as it still is the largest three-row midsize SUV. The fresh front fascia enhances the overall styling. 2022 Chevrolet Traverse vs 2021 Hyundai Palisade

The Hyundai Palisade can be described as the ultimate people mover of sorts. Its tech-savvy, easy-to-use nature makes for a useful, but a numb car from a driver and owner's perspective. Don’t get us wrong, the Palisade is an amazingly refined vehicle that doesn’t really put a foot wrong, making it very hard for the Traverse to compete. However, if you’re looking for a little zest during your errands, the Hyundai can’t provide you with much. The Traverse, on the other hand, has plenty of fun packed into its naturally aspirated V6, and Chevy allows you to push the chassis further towards its limits than the Palisade ever could.

The Kia Telluride might be based on the same platform, and share a lot of similarities with the Hyundai Palisade, but in this segment, the Kia seems to show a bit more focus on the driver.
