2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty XL is expected to hit the showrooms by summer 2021.
This big and brawny pickup truck gets a 6.2 liter V8 engine upfront that spits out 385 hp at 5750 rpm and 430 lb-ft of peak torque at 430 lb-ft. Rather than performance, it is built to haul heavy loads. To start with, it is capable of carrying loads up to 7,850 lbs and can pull up to 16,700 lbs and deals with these kinds of weights pretty easily. This massive engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear-wheel-drive system as well as the all-wheel system. Opting for the all-wheel-drive option would make off-road driving a lot easier. Also, the all-wheel-drive puts the maximum traction possible to the roads and is more driveable too. Sadly, we don’t have the 0-60 times and a quarter-mile run of this pickup truck. With all that heftiness, it still manages to max out at 95 mph which may seem dismal, but it is still on par with the rivals in its class. Moving on to the handling part, you cannot expect much from a pickup truck that hauls tons of weight. Hence, the 2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty XL is more likely to deliver sluggish handling. Besides, the braking system incorporates 14.3 inches ventilated disc brakes in the front and rear as well which provides decent braking performance despite its heftiness.

Comparing the competition, the 2022 RAM 3500 Tradesman undoubtedly delivers the most power output straight out of the factory, but the other pickup trucks are competent as well. However, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD hits the highest top speed of the bunch at 96 mph. The GMC 2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty XL is actually the second quickest pickup truck of the bunch, it manages to reach a maximum speed of 95 mph, followed by the RAM 3500 Tradesman that makes the most power here. It comes with a 6.4 Liter V8 that puts out 94 mph. The slowest vehicle here is the Chevrolet Silverado which produces 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. It’s all about the towing capacity and payload capabilities. The pickup truck that can carry the most load here of 7,850 lbs and 16,700 lbs is the Ford F-350 Superduty which once again lives up to its name in this aspect as well.
As these pickup trucks come with a massive V8 engine for carrying tons of loads and colossal towing capacity, there are no EPA ratings for the 2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty XL. There are no official fuel figures for the Ford F-350 Superduty. However, it does have the fuel tank figures. 2022 Ford F-350 Superduty comes with a 34-gallon fuel tank that happens to be a decently sized fuel tank. The Ford F-150 Regular cab, on the other hand, returns 20 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and a combined 21 mpg which is the best in its class. Hence, we expect the Ford engine to offer better fuel figures than its competitors.

Among the competition, all these pickup trucks have not been rated by EPA as these trucks come under the heavy-duty pickup segment. With the intel we have, both Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 3500 HD share the same sized fuel tank. Both these trucks incorporate a 36-gallon fuel tank that happens to be the largest in its class. The Ford F-350 Superduty, on the other hand, offers a decent-sized fuel tank of 34 gallons. On the flip side, the 2022 RAM 3500 Tradesman has the smallest tank of 32 gallons. Hence, considering all these figures, we expect the GM twins to offer a better driving range overall.
The interior of the 2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty gets no major change to the interior design or whatsoever. It gets the same boxy styling with large AC vents. The center console gets a large infotainment touchscreen and all the primary controls which is quite easy to get accustomed to. Also, you get 4 cupholders which can fit large bottles or coffee cups as well. The steering wheel, on the other hand, is Tilt-and-telescoping and grippy to use as well. Having said that, the base trim gets Heavy-duty vinyl seats, while the XLT trim gets Cloth seats which look and feels premium. In addition, the interior trim gets Metal-Look Instrument Panel Insert and Chrome Interior insert. The fit and finish levels on the XLT trim are way better than the base version. Ford also offers Cruise Control with Steering Wheel Controls as an option. The center gear knob gets urethane material which is nicely finished as well. Quality-wise, it is the class-defining interior on offer. Coming to the interior dimensions, all these pick-up trucks offer seating for only 3 people. The Ford F-350 Superduty offers the highest front headroom of 66.7 inches and a decent amount of front headroom and legroom space which measures 40.8 inches and 43.9 inches respectively. Talking about the trunk capacity, the Ford again comes with a moderate-sized trunk space that measures 78.5 cubic feet. Nevertheless, Ford excels when it comes to quality.

Speaking of cargo capacity, the GM twins win the competition with 83.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Some of the standout interior features of the 2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty include:
The Ford has improved the standards of the infotainment system in the current generation Ford F-350 in the higher trims. The base trim, however, gets only a 4.2-inch touchscreen display, whereas the top trim offers a large 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with a crisp display and runs on Sync4 smart interface which is new for 2022. The front grille is offered either a chrome finish or black finish. On the side, it gets a clean and simple traditional ford truck design with 17-inch steel wheels which can also be upgraded to 18-inch alloy wheels in the XLT trim. The base trim gets a black exterior trim, while the top-of-the-line XLT trim gets a chrome treatment to the exterior trims. As for the rear fascia. It gets a simple and subtle taillight design that goes well with the exterior styling of the pickup truck.

Comparing all the trucks in the competition, the wheelbase of the 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty Super Cab is the longest measuring 141.6, whereas all the other pickup trucks come with a ground clearance of 11.2 inches. This is very vital for off-road driving. Hence, these perform better when it comes to off-road. In terms of length, both the GM twins appear to be the longest measuring 235.5 inches, and the widest as well. The most compact pickup truck is the RAM 3500. Let's have a look at some of the exterior features of the 2022 Ford F-350 SuperDuty in the list below
The 2022 Ford F-350 gets no rating from the two top organizations and so is the current year’s model. However, the baby Ford F-150 gets impeccable ratings from NHTSA as well as IIHS. The NHTSA gives a 5-star rating with 16.40% of rollover risk and earns an overall good rating from IIHS and also becomes the “2021 Top Safety Pick”. Hence, we expect the same levels of structural rigidity and safety in the all-new Ford F-350 as well. Apart from offering a robust body and chassis, the Ford F-350 also gets a host of modern safety features and driver aid assistance. Some of the standout safety features include
The RAM 3500 is not as good as the Ford in many aspects. Even though it produces more power output, it is not as fast as the Ford F-350 and also has a relatively underwhelming towing capacity as well as payload capacity. Moreover, the interior space of the RAM 3500 is also restricted when compared to the Ford F-350. On the upside, it is more affordable than the Ford F-350. However, the Ford occurs to be a better option here for its uncompromising work capabilities and a spacious cabin.
The Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD is the closest rival to the Ford F-350 Superduty in this class. Although it has more power output than the Ford, it is only 1 mph higher than the Ford in terms of top speed. However, the Ford annihilates the Chevrolet Silverado in terms of payload and towing capacity. On the inside, however, the Chevrolet Silverado seems to have a better-looking interior and is more spacious than the Ford as well. In a nutshell, the Chevrolet Silverado looks like a better choice among the two.
The GMC Sierra 3500HD is another offering from General motors and shares the underpinnings with the Chevy Silverado. Hence, it offers the same V8 engine that is offered in the Silverado but due to its heftiness, it is not as fast as the Ford in terms of top speed. It also falls behind Ford in terms of payload capacity. Moreover, it is bigger than the Ford, as a result, it is more sluggish when it comes to handling. Comparing both the cars, the Ford is the better pick here.
The Ford once again proves to be a praiseworthy pick-up truck in its class. For a price less than most of its competitors, the Ford F-350 Superduty Regular Cab offers excess comfort and performance as well. The fit and finish levels are exceptional and look more appealing than some of its rivals. There is no doubt that it still retains the DNA of its predecessor. By all means, it turns out to be an ideal choice in the full-size pickup truck segment.
