The 2022 Hyundai Palisade returns for another stint with little changes to design and mechanicals. Available in a total of 4 trims, the 2022 Palisade starts from $33,150 for the base SE trim with FWD and goes up to $48,390 for the feature-loaded Calligraphy trim with AWD. Speaking of the Calligraphy trim itself, it now gets FWD as standard as one of the changes for this year for a price of $46,690. The other major changes can be seen on the safety front with Hyundai making Blind-Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert standard on all the trims as well as integrated ORVM turn signals.
Apart from these few changes, the Palisade continues to be the flag-bearer of the South-Korean giant's lineup. It comes with premium interiors that feature quilted Nappa leather, a massive 10.3" infotainment system, and a 12-Speaker Harman/Kardon audio system. The base engine offered in the 2022 Hyundai Palisade is the same 3.8 L naturally aspirated V6 that was present in previous models of the same car. It produces 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission but all-wheel drive is available as an option in the SE, SEL, and Limited variants. The top-end Calligraphy variant comes with an all-wheel drive as standard.
It is capable as well with a towing capacity of 5000 pounds when you opt for the trailer hitch option. The powertrain feels adequate for its use which mainly comprises soft off-roading, regular commute as well as highway runs. One might not feel like it’s extremely eager to be pushed to its limits but for all other intents and purposes, it feels adequate.

The V6 powertrain on the Palisade, as we have mentioned, is nothing exceptional. The power figures are very competitive to their rivals, bettered by only the Dodge Durango. Unfortunately, one cannot upgrade to a higher-powered engine for the Palisade whereas the Dodge can. When it comes to 0 to 60 acceleration figures, the Honda Pilot betters almost all of its competition.

According to EPA estimates, the Palisade is an average performer when it comes to fuel efficiency. It returns a combined MPG of 22 which, combined with the gas tank with almost 19 gallons capacity, does not deliver a spellbinding range. Fuel efficiency figures are a bit disturbed if you opt for the all-wheel-drive powertrain. The fuel efficiency figures for the city remain the same, but the highway ratings of 26 MPG fall to 24.

Most cars in the category return the same fuel efficiency. The Pilot and the Telluride fight closely to be the most efficient. And the Dodge returns very capable numbers considering it is the most powerful car of the bunch. It also tops the range estimates due to its bigger tank. Even though the Palisade passes off as something that is not very remarkable, it has enough fuel efficiency and range for its use.

The interiors of the Palisade is where Hyundai has probably invested the most in. Even though it is carried over from the 2021 model, it is still a very new design. The materials used are of good quality and the layout is nice and easy to use. It seats eight passengers in the SE and SEL trims and seven passengers in the higher trims.
The cabin is silent and if you opt for the Harman Kardon audio system, it is quite a pleasant place to be in. It also has plenty of space to store cargo. 86 ft.³ is available behind the front seats and 46 ft.³ is available behind the second-row seats. Even with all the seats upright you get 18 ft.³.

In terms of the numbers game in the interiors, the Palisade is definitely playing to win. The seating capacity is excellent and the space offered is also amazing. It betters its rivals, albeit by a small margin in almost every aspect. Even though all the SUVs are incredibly practical and offer a good amount of interior space, it is not one of the Durango strengths.
Infotainment features include an 8-inch infotainment system that can be upgraded to a 10.3-inch infotainment system that comes with navigation. You also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A nine-speaker audio system is offered as a standard which you can upgrade to a 19 speaker Harman Kardon system. The infotainment unit has extremely sharp resolution and is quick to use.
There are also several knobs and buttons that can be used to control the systems. Bluetooth connectivity for two devices at a time is offered, along with seven USB ports. One can also lock and unlock the car with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant when equipped with Hyundai’s Blue Link app.

The exterior styling is a thing of beauty. It sets the tone for Hyundai’s design and is copied down to the Venue. It looks elegant and has an amazing road presence. It is certainly large in all dimensions but does not become too huge that it is hard to drive. Even though some people are not big fans of the chrome or the diamond cut wheels, we feel it adds well to the character of the car.
The Palisade comes with a ton load of features as standard on the outside and includes features like LED Headlights, LED Taillights, Rain-Sensing Windhsield Wiper, Rear Defogger, massive alloy wheels, and a massive sunroof as well. The Calligraphy trim is similar to what Kia does with the Telluride Nightfall edition and is the flagship in the Palisade lineup.

The Dodge Durango is larger than its competitors in almost every exterior dimensional dimension except width. The Palisade remains modest in dimensions but is awarded in that respect being one of the lightest cars. The ground clearance is a very capable 7.9 inches. The Honda Pilot has the most modest dimensions as well as weight.

The Palisade is a favorite of the NHTSA as well as the IIHS. This should be enough to say that it is a very safe SUV. But let us explain.
