About 2022 Nissan Kicks

3.9

Overall Rating

The Nissan Kicks was first introduced as a replacement for the Nissan Juke. With the competition in the subcompact SUV market growing each day, Nissan is looking to update the exterior styling and pack more technical improvements in the 2022 Kicks. The new Kicks will be powered by the same 1.6-liter 4-tube engine producing 122 hp and 114 lb-feet of torque. The 2022 Nissan kicks will go head to head against the likes of Toyota C-HR, 2021 Honda HR-V, and 2021 Chevrolet Trax.

The 2022 Nissan Kicks is now on sale in the market with no major changes from last year. The prices for the 2022 Nissan Kicks start from $19,700 for the base S trim and go over to $22,240 for the fully-loaded SR trim. AWD is still not on offer in the 2022 Nissan Kicks as this hatchback from Nissan continues to draw power from a 1.6L inline-4 motor producing 122 hp that is being directed to the front wheels via a CVT transmission.

Some feature highlights of the Nissan Kicks include an infotainment system featuring both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integrations across the different range of trims. It also includes various safety features and driver assists to make the drive more comfortable. Ever since the launch of the Nissan Kicks back in 2016, there have been no recalls till now, it has proven to be reliable and holds its value for quite some time. The Kicks takes on the likes of the Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR, and the Chevy Trax.

The Nissan Kick’s affordability makes the perfect sense to go for the range-topping SR because you’ll get everything and will also like the comfort features that are available exclusively to the trim. The SR also comes with the SR Premium package that adds a lot of features on top of what all is available, making the premium worthwhile.

Pros

Cons

  • Underwhelming performance

Pricing and Features
8.0/10

The Nissan Kicks has a very simple trim lineup consisting of only three trims - S, SV and SR - all of which come generously equipped with practical features right from the get-go. The prices for the crossover start at $20,775 and go up to $23,315 for the range-topping SR trim.

The Japanese carmaker has added a lot of driver-assistance features as standard which make sure that the drive is safe for all the occupants, while the comfort features ensure what they assure.

Engine and Performance
7.0/10

Nissan Kicks will have a 1.6-liter 4-tube engine generating 122 hp and optimum torque of 114 lb-feet. There aren't any major changes to the engine and the powertrain remains the same as the old model. The Xtronic CVT transmission delivers all the power to the front wheels. The 2022 Kicks should be able to touch 60 mph from a standstill in a reserved 9.7 seconds.

148 lb-ft @1,850 RPM

Nissan has the least power output when compared to its close rivals.

But the difference isn't much and for a subcompact SUV, the 2022 Nissan has enough power to cruise around the city. The CVT transmission offers a smooth driving experience.

Fuel Economy
8.5/10

Subcompact SUVs are very economical. The 2022 Nissan Kicks edges over its competition with a 31 MPG while cruising inside the city and 36 MPG when on the highway. The combined 33 MPG is the most economical car in this range. The Nissan packs a smaller fuel tank than its rivals, with a capacity of 10.8 Gallons of fuel. The Kicks e-Power was released in Thailand. It features a new look with new bumpers, headlights, and tail lights. The Kicks e-Power combines an HR12DE 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine and an EM57 electric motor that drives the front wheels. It is unlikely that the new hybrid variant will make it to the US market.

Interior
7.5/10

The 2022 Nissan Kicks gets minor changes in the interior layout. Nissan provides heated seats as standard. There are elements of simplicity inside the new Nissan Kicks. The dashboard remains the same with the soft leather and contrast stitching interior.

The light-colored roof lining and minimalist elements in the cabin make it feel more spacious. Overall the interior of the new Nissan Kicks looks premium for its price segment. It offers the necessary features even for the base models. Nissan has put a lot of thought into the Kicks after it replaced the Juke in 2016.

Does the 2022 Nissan Kicks come loaded with Tech inside?

The 2022 Nissan Kicks features a lot of technological quirks as standard. All models come with a Lane Departure Warning and Around View Monitor that gives you a 360º bird's-eye view of the car and its surrounding. It also has an integrated Pedestrian Detection system. It also has a clever Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) that detects any form of understeer or oversteer and adjusts the engine power and braking to the specific wheel to counteract the problem

Nissan also has the Remote Engine Start System that lets you remotely start the engine with the key before you get in. Also new for 2022, is an updated infotainment system that uses the NissanConnect 7" touch-screen display. It offers much better connectivity options and can also be integrated with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The 2022 Nissan Kicks comes with:

  • Nissan Connect 7" touch-screen display
  • 7” Driver’s Display with performance telemetry

Final Verdict

The 2022 Nissan Kicks is an updated version of the old model but there have been no drastic changes to the subcompact SUV. It packs in a lot of features that are very compelling at this price point. It also offers a good amount of cargo space and proves to be very economical for day to day pursuits. The Nissan Kicks have been proven to be reliable and, as the new model uses the same platform and drivetrain as the last model, there won't be any cause for concerns regarding the reliability factor.
