The 2022 Porsche Cayenne will continue to be offered as a single trim, the same as the 2021 model year. The price begins at $69,000 before optional extras, that being an increase of $1,500 over the previous model year. The Cayenne 2022 features the assets like the Porsche Traction Management and Integrated Porsche 4D-Chassis Control.

The Porsche Cayenne 2022 has been given 19-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, LED Headlamps, LED Taillamps, and 4-point LED DRLs as well. While the Porsche Communications Management and Porsche Connect along with a 12.-inch display will keep the interior control intuitive. 

Porsche Cayenne also offers plenty of customization and personalization options with the various packages. The off-road package at $2,000 gets a reinforced engine-bay guard and rock rails with integrated skid plates. And, the Sport Chrono package gets more drive modes, performance-oriented settings for engine and transmission.

The 2022 Porsche Cayenne will carry forward the same engine for the 2022 model year - a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that produces 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. However, if you do seek more power there are the other models of the Cayenne which include S, GTS, Turbo, the E-Hybrid, and Turbo S E-Hybrid, and the newest addition of the 631 hp Cayenne Turbo GT.

The 2022 Cayenne features the same 8-speed Triptronic S automatic transmission which can be manually controlled with the paddle shifters, and power will go to the AWD system. The engine offers good low-end torque and mid-range power while being in conjunction with Porsche Traction Management. The Cayenne 2022 cruises comfortably on a highway and can also be taken on a track too, although the Coupe model is more aerodynamically suited for track work.

As Porsche Cayenne will be continuing with the same power unit and drivetrain, there will be no change in performance. This means the 2022 Cayenne will do the 0-60 in 5.9-seconds, and with the Sport Chrono Package that timing reduces to 5.6 seconds. It will do the standing quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds with a top track speed of 152 mph. If you need to tow, it has a towing capacity of 7,700 pounds.

The Audi Q8, BMW X5, and Porsche Cayenne, all three make 335 hp, however, the Audi Q8 and Porsche 2022 Cayenne can tow 1,100 pounds more than the likes of the  BMW X5. The Maserati Levante makes 10 hp lesser than the Cayenne and tows lesser too where the gap stands at nearly 1,700 lbs. However, all three of the competition are faster than the Cayenne in the 0-60 and quarter-mile, X5 being 1 second quicker than Cayenne in both parameters.

With the same mechanical parts as the 2021 Porsche Cayenne, we expect the same EPA estimated fuel economy for the 2022 model year. The Cayenne Porsche 2022 will give 19 MPG in the city, 23 MPG on the highway, and a combined MPG of 20. It has a fuel capacity of 23.7-gallons which should be good enough to give 474 miles of overall range. 

BMW X5 is the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the competition giving a combined of 23, that being 3 MPG more mileage than the Cayenne 2022 with which it has 29 miles better range. However, the Maserati Levante is the least fuel-efficient among all with its 3 MPG lower economy than the same Cayenne and 100 miles range deficit.

The 2022 Porsche Cayenne interior will be carried forward from the 2021 model. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne confronts minor touch-ups including larger air intakes and a new front bumper. The hood has an increased dip angle and increased contour lines while the rear sees a new rear bumper with a new slightly larger and more prominent diffuser. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne will have no changes in its platform or structure compared to the 2021 model, so we can consider it to be equivalent in its structural build. However, like many Porsche models, the NHTSA and the IIHS have not yet crash-tested either the 2021 Porsche Cayenne or the Porsche Cayenne 2022 and have no plans to do so in near future too.

2022 Porsche Cayenne vs 2022 Audi Q8

Both the 2022 Porsche Cayenne and 2022 Audi Q8 are priced very close to one another and also have a very similar performance to offer. The standard mild-hybrid system from Audi makes it marginally more efficient. The Audi Q8 is more comfortable but Cayenne 2022 offers a more sporty ride and much better handling. While the Q8 has a more spacious cabin and trunk, it also offers more standard features than the Porsche, making it the more sensible choice here. 

2022 Porsche Cayenne vs 2022 BMW X5

Both offer a spacious and premium cabin with tons of customization options, but the lower starting price and higher reliability of the Porsche Cayenne 2022 tilt the scales towards it.
