Spacious and comfortable interiors are included and a good amount of technology is available. The Ford Escape also comes with many options as part of packages for customization as well. Ford prices the Escape at an MSRP of $23,100 and this brings the car into competition with the Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV-4.

We recommend getting the SE trim with the AWD specification. This trim comes with a good turbocharged engine and with good mpg figures. Additionally, there are a lot of comfort features along with three packages available for you to customize the SUV to your liking. Moreover, the SE trim brings the best value for money package.

Additionally, there are a lot of comfort features along with three packages available for you to customize the SUV to your liking. Moreover, the SE trim brings the best value for money package.

Engine and Performance
8.3/10

The 2014 Ford Escape is powered by a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine, which makes 168 hp and 170 foot-pounds of talk. This engine is available only on the base S trim. The SE comes standard with a Turbocharged 1.6 liter inline-4 which makes 178 hp and 184 foot-pounds of torque. The top-end Titanium comes with a Turbocharged 2.0 liter inline-4, which makes 240 hp and 270 foot-pounds of torque.

The power of all the engines is managed by a six-speed automatic transmission which directs all the power to either the front wheels or all the wheels (the base S trim is only front-wheel drive). In performance tests, the Ford Escape does the 0 to 60 sprint in 9.1 seconds and a quarter-mile and 16.9 seconds. The 1.6-liter engine does the 0-60 in 8.5 seconds, and the 2.0-liter engine is faster with a time of 7.0 seconds (AWD). All engines have a top speed of 123 mph.

Exterior
7.5/10

The 2014 Ford Escape has an athletic look to it. It has the look of a modern crossover with a lot of references from European crossover SUVs. Along with that, a lot of Ford’s current design language used in other cars can be seen here. The exterior has its own set of good features, which makes us like this SUV a lot.

The base gets 17-inch wheels and body-colored accents. The S trim has the option of roof rails. The SE gets 17” alloy wheels, automatic headlights, fog lights, and even privacy tinted glass. 18” wheels and a panoramic sunroof are available on this trim. The Titanium trim gets 18” wheels with the option of 19” and a panoramic sunroof.

The 2014 Ford Escape comes with many features, including engine and drivetrain options. The interiors are spacious, and there is plenty of room for any luggage you may have, the competition does have comparatively more. The infotainment system is good and is easy to use. At a price similar to the competition, we would recommend keeping the Ford Escape as an option.
