Even if an update to the 2015 Doge Durango is overdue, it still manages to provide great performance. The 3.6 liter V6 and 5.7 liter V8 engine options are available with four trims and generates enough power to competes with its competitors like the Honda Pilot and the Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Dodge Durango is a full-size three-row SUV from the American car manufacturer and has been on sale since 1997. The 2015 Durango comes with no major changes over the last model year except for the Beats by Dre audio system that is available as an option. The Durango is one of the very few three-row SUVs that provide sufficient seating for adults even in the third-row seats. At a starting price of $30,495, the SUV offers an all-round package despite being an aging vehicle.

We would recommend you to go for the AWD Limited trim. With a price bump of more than 9.5 grand over the base variant, it adds a lot of features to the already feature-loaded SXT trim and offers a more comfortable experience.

Engine and Performance

The Dodge Durango is powered by a 3.6liter V6 motor that generates a strong 290 horsepower and 260lb-ft of torque. Only the R/T trim gets the beefier 5.7liter V8. The standard V6 motor is more than adequately powerful for this huge three-row SUV and doesn’t feel stressed at any time.

Overall the motor feels smooth and sounds nice when pushed hard. The V6 motor can tow a maximum of 5000 pounds which is impressive enough while the V8 variant can tow 7400 pounds. With the V6 power-plant, the SUV can complete the 0-60 mph dash within 8.1 seconds.

The Dodge Durango truly stands out in its class when it comes to the interior. Regardless of the trim you choose, the interior remains quite upscale as compared to the rivals and is filled with plenty of high-quality materials. There are adequate soft-touch surfaced and generously offers outboard arm-rests for the third-row passengers.

The front seats are excellent with more than enough support and excellent cushioning while the rear bench seats are nearly as comfortable as the front ones. The optional captain seats for the second-row offer similar comfort as the front seats. The third-row seats are easily accessible and are decently comfortable for adults over a short distance.

The exterior of the Durango is as impressive as its interior. The SUV comes with some beefy exterior dimensions and looks like a proper full-size three-row SUV. The big crosshair front-grille gives a more classic SUV look to the vehicle and the sculpted fenders look quite muscular.

You can feel the heft of the SUV by merely looking at it from some angles and it is indeed quite hefty at a curb weight of 4,756 lbs. From the rear, the SUV looks more car-like while the side profile is neat and smooth.

In the safety aspect, the Durango might disappoint a bit with its sub-par and mediocre safety ratings. The NHTSA gave an overall rating of 4-stars out of 5 to the SUV while under the IIHS crash tests, it secured a “Good” rating on most of the parameters barring the Small overlap front: Driver-side test, where it scored a rather disappointing “ Marginal”.
