About 2015 Subaru WRX

3.9

Overall Rating

The major reason for the Subaru being the favorite is that the package is available at an affordable base price of around $26,000. The two engine options of 2-liter and 2.5-liter provide generous power output, which puts the Subaru WRX in competition with the Nissan Altima and Hyundai Sonata.

The 2015 Subaru WRX has been a favorite of many since its launch in 2002, and has been carrying forward the legacy with ever-improving power and performance. Where initially the interior was far from premium, the new models are getting an improved and well-designed interior. The major reason for the Subaru being the favorite is that the package is available at an affordable base price of around $26,000. The two engine options of 2-liter and 2.5-liter provide generous power output, which puts the Subaru WRX in competition with the Nissan Altima and Hyundai Sonata.

We would choose the Base model from the three trims as it provides the best value for the money spent. The Premium variant adds in a sunroof, heated front seats, and heated mirrors, but at an additional cost of $2,000. That additional cost doesn't make it more appealing, but you can surely opt for it as per your requirement.

Why the Subaru WRX STI is an amazing car for a daily backcountry driver.

Pros

It picks up very quickly around backroads and sharp corners., It has all the luxuries of a comfortable daily, all while having the performance of a sports car.

Cons

2015 Subaru WRX Review

Pros

  • Powerful engine
  • Quick acceleration
  • Great handling

Cons

  • High wind noise
  • Low-quality standard stereo
  • Comparatively lower on fuel economy

The major reason for the Subaru being the favorite is that the package is available at an affordable base price of around $26,000. The two engine options of 2-liter and 2.5-liter provide generous power output, which puts the Subaru WRX in competition with the Nissan Altima and Hyundai Sonata.

Overview

The 2015 Subaru WRX has been a favorite of many since its launch in 2002, and has been carrying forward the legacy with ever-improving power and performance. Where initially the interior was far from premium, the new models are getting an improved and well-designed interior. Pricing and Features
8.0/10

The 2015 Subaru WRX is available in three trim options, namely Base, Premium, and Limited. The base variant is available at a price tag of $26,295, the Premium trim starts at $28,495, whereas the Limited trim tops out at around $30,000. The Base variant in itself is equipped with all the required features like the 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, and 6.1-inch display. The Premium trim adds in a sunroof, heated mirrors, and heated front seats. The Limited trim adds in leather upholstery, an eight-way power driver seat, and LED headlights, at a starting price of $30,000.

Engine and Performance
8.8/10

The 2015 Subaru WRX is available in two engine options, a 2.0 liter turbocharged flat-4 which generates 268 hp along with 258 lb-ft. The other engine is a slightly bigger 2.5 liter turbocharged flat-4 that generates 305-hp and 290 lb-ft of torque. The engine is assisted by a 6-speed manual transmission and delivers the power to all the wheels as standard.

The Subaru WRX is the quickest in the comparison as it reaches 0-60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. A similar performance is seen in the quarter-mile acceleration where the Subaru WRX takes 13.7 seconds.

The 2015 Subaru WRX is the only one getting a manual transmission, while the Hyundai Sonata gets a 6-speed automatic transmission and the Nissan Altima gets a Continuously variable-speed Automatic

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

The 2015 Subaru WRX is great on fuel economy when considered individually. It provides a mileage of 21 mpg in the city, which improves to 28 mpg on the highway. It is followed by the 2015 Hyundai Sonata with a combined mileage of 26 mpg. The Hyundai also has the largest fuel tank of 18.5 gallons, while the Nissan gets an 18 gallons fuel tank.

Interior
7.3/10

The interiors of the Subaru WRX have improved by a lot in all these years; right from a cheap interior to now a more comfortable and high-quality trim. The front gets sports seats along with height and power adjustments.

The Subaru can comfortably carry up to 5 people in the interior and provides decent space. The front spacing for the passengers is not the best and feels a bit cramped, but the rear is on par with the competition.

Final Verdict

The 2015 Subaru WRX has been in the market for a long time and proved its worth over the years. It has got better with each passing year and currently provides high performance along with improved interiors. It is quick and has a decent fuel economy, but faces tough competition from its rivals, especially the Nissan Altima with its high power output. It also lacks the infotainment system, while the Hyundai provides a better option. All in all, the sedan is still a considerable option in the segment.
