The 2017 Nissan Quest starts at a base price of $27,500 and is cheaper for a minivan than most of its competitors but still provides us with a decent overall p[erformance. It is not the most powerful or quick on acceleration, but the Quest manages to fulfill its primary purpose. It can carry up to seven passengers and provides a decent amount of space for the front row passengers. Let us take a look at how the Quest performs when compared to its competitors.
Most of the features of the 2017 Quest are unchanged from last year's version. It comes in 4 trims, which are the base S trim priced at $ 27,500, a little pricier SV trim priced at $ 31,500, the SL trim priced at $ 35,500, and the top-of-the-line Platinum trim priced at $ 44,170. One of the main complaints with the new Quest is that the base S trim comes with very few features such as power windows only on the front doors, very basic infotainment system with 4 speakers, which is inadequate for a minivan. Alloy wheels are also absent, and the materials used in the interiors are cheap. No leather or soft-touch material is covering the steering wheel, and the seats are also covered with cloth.

The higher versions are reasonably loaded as per their pricing. But the absence of leather seats along with heating capability in the SV trim can deter a lot of potential buyers. Other manufacturers offer similar features within a lesser price range. The only trim capable of being called a saving grace in terms of comfort and features is the top-end Platinum trim.

We recommend the SL trim as it is reasonably priced as compared to the features it comes with. The top of the line Platinum trim is way too expensive for a family minivan. The trims add heated seats in the front along with leather upholstery. The 18-inch alloy wheels are a plus over the 16-inch on the SV trims. Thus at a price of $35,500, the Nissan Quest SL provides great value.
Powering all the trims of the 2017 Quest is the 3.5L V6 engine. It is quite decent for the price and segment. It produces a maximum horsepower of 260 at 6,000 rpm and torque of 240 lb-ft at 4,400 rpm. The engine is mated with a continuously variable transmission, which provides seamless shift and thus a pleasant driving experience.
However, all the competitors of the Quest come with a more powerful engine. Hence, if you are one of those people who like a high-performance engine, we suggest you look elsewhere.

The 2017 Toyota Sienna is the most powerful vehicle in comparison which provides a power output of 296 hp. It is followed by the Chrysler Pacifica which generates 287 hp and is slightly more powerful than the Kia Sedona. Thus the Nissan Quest is the least powerful vehicle in comparison, which sees its effects in the other segments as well.

Quest comes with the segment standard 4 disc brakes accompanied by brake assistance. ABS is also standard across all the trims.

The Chrysler Pacifica has the best fuel efficiency as it provides 19 mpg in the city, which improves to 28 mpg on the highway. Thus it gets a combined mileage of 23 mpg. The quality and feel of the interior depend largely on the trim you select. If you opt for the base S trim, you will be treated with very ordinary interiors. The seats are covered with a cloth, while the steering wheel is covered with plateresque material that feels very cheap.

Quest can easily accommodate 7 passengers, 2 in the front seats, 2 in the middle seat, and 3 in the rear row. While the first 2 rows are quite spacious, the last row tends to get a little congested, especially with 3 people. But this is the case with all the cars in the segment. You will also be treated with a separate DVD entertainment system for the rear seats. Smartphones can be connected via Bluetooth only as both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are absent. Quest has one of the smallest cargo spaces in the segment. It offers a cargo volume of 35 cu.ft at the rear. Moreover, the 2nd-row seats do not fold completely to the floor level, which can be an issue sometimes. The cargo space of Quest stands second after a tie between Toyota and Kia for the first place.

The Kia Sedona and Toyota Sienna have the same cargo volume of 39 cubic feet, which is the largest in the comparison. The Chrysler has the smallest cargo volume of 32 cu.ft, which is not enough for a minivan.
