"The Q8 provides a carlike driving experience that is both athletic and refined."-Caranddriver.com
2021 Audi Q8 comes with the same twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0L TFSI V6 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and signature Quattro All Wheel Drive. The engine produces an amazing 335 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. This motor is also backed by a 48-volt mild hybrid system which provided more initial thrust and better gas mileage.
All the trims of the 2021 Q8 still come with the same 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission and the legendary Quattro AWD system as standard, both of which provide an excellent driving experience. Though the transition is not as quick as some of the dual-clutch transmissions produced by Audi, it still is quite impressive for a torque converter. Shifts are impeccably smooth and decently quick. There are multiple transmission modes on offer too, which would come in handy for the enthusiastic drives.
The powerful turbocharged V6 engine present in the 2021 Audi Q8 can sprint from 0–60 MPH in just 5.6 seconds and quarter-mile timing of 14 seconds with an exceptional top speed of 189 MPH. 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE bags the trophy in sprinting by taking a lower 5.1 seconds to reach 60 MPH, which is followed by BMW X6 with 5.2 seconds.

The 2021 Audi Q8 offered unmatched ride quality without compromising on the handling front. The car could easily turn corners with utmost confidence and the driver is going to enjoy tackling those back-end B-roads quite well. The body roll and understeer are quite minimal too. With a well-weighted steering wheel that is decent enough on feel and feedback along with sharp brakes, the 2021 Q8 lives up to the name of the brand pretty well.
The Audi Q8 with its massive 3L TFSI V6 motor and Quattro AWD system is surely not something meant to churn out better gas mileage numbers, and this holds for the 2021 model also. The 2021 Audi Q8 returned a mediocre gas mileage of 17 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway, with a combined rating of 18 MPG.

Though all the trims of the 2021 Audi Q8 remain unchanged in the mechanical front, they return identical gas mileage numbers too. With a decently large 22.5 gallons of fuel tank capacity, the 2021 Q8 offers a city range of 383 miles and a highway range of 473 miles. The combined range on offer before needing a fill-up would be 427 miles.
Clearly, the 2021 BMW X6 showcases an exceptional performance as compared to the rivals in terms of fuel economy and provides the maximum range too. 2021 Porsche Cayenne has the highest tank capacity but still gets a lower range than the 2021 BMW X6. In comparison, it is the Audi Q8 and 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE that offers the least gas mileage and tank range of the lot.
"While it holds fewer people and has less cargo space than its three-row sibling, the 2021 Q8 is best suited for those who prioritize sportiness, luxuriousness, and style."-Caranddriver.com
The 2021 Audi Q8 is crafted with premium materials such as Valcona leather, chrome, and aluminum trim pieces. Driver, front passenger, and outboard rear passengers can create their own microclimates with the available four-zone climate control system. If you go for the top of the line Prestige trim, which comes at an MSRP of $77,850, you get many more interior features like a black Alcantara headliner, ventilated driver and passenger seats, and many more too. Optional packages like the Convenience package and Black Optic package add to the interior features too.
The 2021 Audi Q8 is not the most spacious offering of the mid-size luxury SUV segment, which is lead by 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE and 2021 Porsche Cayenne. However, the difference is quite marginal in comparison. Nevertheless, the 30.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity is the best of the segment, which is followed by BMW X6 with 27.4 cubic feet of space.

The 2021 Audi Q8 comes with the same Audi MMI Navigation Plus infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a host of other infotainment features coming in as standard. This system comes with a 10.1-inch upper screen and an 8.6-inch lower screen, both of which are operated through touch. There are voice controls and steering mounted controls too, both of which turned out to be quite intuitive to use. This infotainment system is one of the best we have encountered due to its excellent interface coupled with top-notch display performance on offer. The audio quality punched out by the Bang & Olufsen system is top-notch too.
Some of the interior and infotainment features that are present in the 2021 Audi Q8 are as follows:
"With a coupe-like profile and bolder bodywork, the two-row Q8 kicks off the company's line of ultimate crossovers"-Caranddriver.com
The 2021 Audi Q8 remains physically the same as the 2020 model. The amazing Audi single-frame grille with available black mask offers a bold proclamation of confidence. The new octagonal grille is aggressive with a standard panoramic sunroof that lets light and air fill the cabin through large glass panels and a power sunshade at a single touch. For the highest Prestige trim, which is retailed for an MSRP of $77,850, you get more exterior features as standard like 22-inch 5-Twin arm design alloy wheels and two more exterior colors, namely Navarra Blue Metallic and Daytona Gray Pearl Effect.
LED taillights with animation, HD Matrix-design headlights, and LED taillights with dynamic indicators give beautiful and visually appealing exteriors to the 2021 Q8. 21 inches 5-segment-spoke-W design wheels present in premium plus trim gives it a ravishing look too. Along with that, the Black Optic package retailed for an MSRP of $1,500 offers more exterior design cues like blacked-out exterior elements and an upgraded alloy wheel design.

The 2021 Audi Q8 came out to be the heaviest of the lot with a curb weight of 5,004 lbs, which is followed by 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE and 2021 BMW X6 with 4,960 lbs and 4,687 lbs. The Q8 is also the longest of the lot with a length of 196.3" and 117.9". The ground clearance of 8.7" is the best in class too, and the competitors like Porsche Cayenne and BMW X6 offers a lower 8.2" and 8.1" of ground clearance, respectively.
Some of the exterior features of the 2021 Audi Q8 are:
The 2020 model of the Audi Q8 was awarded “Top Safety Pick” by IIHS. With no major changes on offer with the 2021 Audi Q8 in terms of safety apart from the inclusion of blindspot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert as standard across all three trims, the same excellent results can be expected from the 2021 moniker as well
The 2021 Audi Q8 also gets all the bells and whistles in terms of safety and driver assistance features like forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and many more too. The highest Prestige trim which is retailed for an MSRP of $77,850 comes with a high-pressure headlamp washer as standard too. Along with that, many optional safety features on offer will further help to safeguard the passengers from accidents.
The 2021 BMW X6 comes with an equally powerful engine as compared to rival Audi Q8 but manages to beat the latter in terms of outright acceleration times and fuel efficiency. Both brands are quite synonymous with luxurious exterior and interior along with unmatched safety performance, however, the BMW X6 comes at a lower price tag of $64,300, which is lower by close to $4,000 in comparison to the Q8. But Q8 beats X6 in practicality front due to the more impressive cargo space on offer along with a slightly better interior offering more standard features.
Mercedes-Benz comes with the most powerful motor which leads to the fastest 0-60 MPH and Quarter-Mile time. However, the 2021 GLE comes at a higher price tag of $71,350, which is about $3,000 more than the 2021 Q8. It is also not as feature-rich and opulent as the Q8, which may be a deal-breaker to some of the prospective buyers.
The 2021 Porsche Cayenne has a lot of things going for it in terms of interior, performance, and safety front. The 2021 Cayenne looks quite stunning too. Though both the Q8 and Cayenne comes with the same powertrain on offer, the Cayenne managed to be a slightly more fun-to-drive offering due to the excellent suspension and steering setup on offer. However, coming in at a price tag of $75,300, we feel that the 2021 Porsche Cayenne is not worth the extra money unless you value the more precise handling on offer from Porsche.
The 2021 Audi Q8 turned out to be one of the most enticing options of the mid-size luxury SUV segment due to the excellent performance on offer which equated to decent 0-60 MPH time and quarter-mile time. The interior also needs a special mention since it is easily one of the most opulent cabins we have been to, for a sub $100,000 car. Apart from that, the infotainment and safety sections are also taken care of with all the features you could think of coming in as standard. Hence, if you are on the lookout for an SUV from the same segment, the 2021 Audi Q8 should be high up on your list.
