On paper, the 1.4-liter turbocharged Inline-4 engine in the 2021 Chevrolet Trax seems to have enough muscle to pull all four wheels. To start with, this motor produces 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, which is adequate for urban runabouts. Since this is a VVT DOHC motor with direct injection, it is quite smooth and refined too.

The transmission duties of the 2021 Chevrolet Trax are handled by a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. This transmission is quite mediocre in operation due to its slow shifting times and below-average smoothness. However, the 2021 Chevrolet Trax gets both FWD as well as AWD drivetrain layout, making it quite versatile for the freeways and mild off-roading.

The cabin of the 2021 Chevrolet Trax comes in two different shades, which are full-black as well as full-black/light ash gray color combinations. As a result, the 2021 Hyundai Kona offers the worst 0-60 MPH and quarter-mile times of the segment.

Truth be told, it’s hard to recommend the 2021 Chevrolet Trax. Had the year been 2018, the car would have been a reasonably good buy. But it is not and the way the competition has leaped forward would mean little to spend your hard-earned money on something so outdated. The performance on offer is also quite lethargic coupled with zero driver-assistance features coming in as standard. Hence, we would recommend you to look at the 2021 Ford Escape, since the Escape beats the 2021 Trax in almost all regards.
