2021 Lamborghini Huracan Review

The standard Huracan has been tuned and is also available as Evo, Spyder EVO RWD, and Spyder RWD. These exotic supercars never age neither they have direct competition. Every car in this price point offers the best of the best which also includes glamorous interior and exterior.

Italian sports car maker Lamborghini doesn’t need any introduction anymore. Back in 2014, when the Italian giants launched the Huracan, it hyped the supercar segment. Up until now, this supercar has undergone some upgrades and cosmetic changes and the 2021 iteration is the latest development of that. For 2021, Lamborghini has spiced things up with the introduction of the Fluo Capsule Huracan and the Huracan STO.

Pricing and Features
8.9/10

The Evo is the mid-cycle update for this missile and isa step up from the Performante. With that said the Evo gets almost everything that its upper sibling offers. Like the Performante, the EVO comes with a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine and yes that is the most powerful Lamborghini has ever built. The amount of power the engine generates sure needs some time to get used to but safety electronics will make sure you don’t weak the vehicle, unless your Ken Block. Never the less this supercar is not offered in trims one can customize their vehicle with add-ons and some optional features.

Sure the Huracan Evo does not come with any trims and the standard offering in both AWD and RWD variant is identical. The difference between the two lies in terms of the drivetrain. As the name suggests in AWD the engine powers all the 4 wheels whereas only 2 rear wheels are given power in the RWD. With that said, the RWD misses out on the All-wheel drive steering and the active torque vectoring. Hence it is a tad cheaper than the AWD.

Maintenance, Reliability and Warranty

The attention to detail and the quality of materials that Lamborghini installs in the car are expensive to maintain. This is what you get if you pay an MSRP of $208,571 for the RWD and $261,274 for the AWD version. Not forgetting that there are many options that one can opt to personalize their rides. And in typical Lamborghini fashion, those add-ons are plenty starting from the carbon fiber trim on the inside to the racing alloy wheels on the outside.

Ownership Cost and Reliability

One might think a car that costs $262,000 will be super expensive to own and it is. Carbon ceramic brakes are not that easy to maintain and the Lamborghini Huracan gets those. But then again, aside from the obvious expenditure, the package in itself demands such attention

As far as ownership costs are concerned, a yearly service for the car which includes an oil change costs around $1,000. For the factory fitted Perellis, $1,200 is the cost of a full set of tires. Yes! It is on the expensive side but not unreasonable, Its a Lambo we are talking. The insurance cost for this low slung car will set you back $3,400 per year.

Warranty

Considering all the costs that one has to pay to buy their dream poster car, the 2021 Huracan EVO is a versatile, reliable car. It’s more mature and because of this, the people at Lamborghini are confident and generous enough to offer an ultimate warranty scheme. After getting a Huracan you get unlimited miles warranty. Does this mean you get an unlimited warranty? Sadly, No! Lamborghini has limited that to 3-year warranty. But can you extend the warranty period? Yes! Further, one can extend the warranty to 4-5 years.

Buying Advice

Like the 2020 Huracan, the 2021 model includes two drivetrains, RWD and an AWD. The difference between the RWD and the AWD version of the EVO is significant, $52,000 to be exact. You can buy an Audi TT with that price difference, but why is it so?

The RWD is cheap but its more challenging to control than it’s counterpart. For an experienced driver, the RWD is a real treat. The Huracan EVO RWD is lighter too but is less powerful when compared to the other. So, if the you’ve won the World Championship more than once and the black card, you now which one to go for. And if you’re looking for an excuse to spend that oil money on a sports car, where you’ve never even visited Kart track, then the AWD would suffice that want.

Will a used Huracan EVO be a good buy?

Yes, for sure it is feasible getting a used Huracan as it is the current 2020 model which was updated and we assume the changes for the 2021 model would be less significant if there were any. But all in all, EVO is a really good upgrade over the Performante which was more performance orientated and that had its own perks.

Engine and Performance
9.9/10

All Laborghini Huracan feature the same engine but they differ from each other with different tuning and . The 5.2-Litre naturally-aspirated V10 that reves all the way upto 8000 RPM. It is the AWD drivetrain that takes the crown by delivering 630hp at 8,000rpm and 443lb-ft of peak torque at 6,500rpm. On the other front, the RWD sheds off about 30hp.

Both the engines are mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch automatic transmission which has lightning-fast shifts.

Considering the numbers the Lambo turns out to be the most expensive amongst them. It is the Porsche that comes with a twin-turbo Flat-6, with 590 lb-ft of torque which is also delivered lower in the rev band making the car drivable in the day to day city traffic. Mclaren is the one which is the only car in this bunch that comes with a RWD only setup.

How is the 2021 Lamborghini Huracan Evo in acceleration and braking?

The powerful V10 in the Huracan does an amazing job of propelling this vehicle from a standstill to 60mph in just 2.9 seconds. These are the numbers for the AWD variant whereas the numbers slightly differ in RWD. The RWD manages to take slightly more time 3.3 seconds to be precise from 0-60mph sprint. Though the braking performance of both is nearly identical.

Both the 2021 EVO cover a distance of 101ft before coming to a halt from 60mph which is impressive.

It is the Huracan EVO along with the Porche which comes on top when its about quicker acceleration figures. On paper too the Porsche with its higher torque output continues to impresses us. But the well-rounded package I.e. the Mclaren 570S delivers an appreciable 3.2 seconds 0-60times and the best in class braking performance. The 570s stop from 60mph to standstill in just 92ft.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

These mean top-performing machines deliver the best automotive engineering has to offer, so fuel efficiency takes a back seat. The 2021 Huracan Evo has all the perks of being the most powerful coupe in the comparison but it takes a huge toll on the fuel economy. This V10 is the least fuel-efficient delivering only 13mpg in the city, 18mpg on the highway, and 15mpg combines. But the Huracan has the largest fuel tank of 23 gallons amongst its rivals. This fuel tank allows the monster to travel 274 miles in the city, 379 out on the highway, and 345 combines.

Despite Huracan having the largest fuel tank capacity, it is the Mclaren that can travel the longest on a single tank of fuel on the highway. Followed by the Mclaren is the Porsche 911 Turbo S which will go an exceptional 340 miles in the city and 429 on the highway. These numbers are no way near the Lambo but sometimes its just more than meer numbers.

Interior
9.0/10

Paying an exceptional amount of money gets you the equally exceptional interiors be it the quality, fit, and finish. The 2021 Huracan Evo comes with an updated 8.4” touch screen which houses the controls for the climate as well as the other essentials inside the car. The solid aluminum switches for the controls on the dash feel super to operate. We haven’t finished talking about the quality, more so a luxury car might come with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Evo takes it further and offers steering that is wrapped in Alcantara.

The flat-bottom steering also gets a toggle for the Lamborghini’s traditional driving modes Corsa, Strada, Sport and the driveability of the car changes drastically with the change in each mode. Corsa is the mode for the track, Strada for city driving, and in the middle of the two comes the Sports.

The space on the inside of such supper cars does not matter as they have ample room to accommodate all. But keeping that aside from the Porsche 911 Turbo S is the only car in this comparison which is offered with space for 4 passengers. Practically speaking, the second row of seats in the 911 is compromised with no space of an adult, they are even cramped for children. It is fine to call the Porsche a 2 seater.

Will the 2021 Lamborghini Huracan Evo keep you entertained on the inside?

The 2020 Huracan Evo was upgraded with a new infotainment system where a new 8.4” infotainment system was added. The 2021 Huracan Evo will feature the same too. The screen also operates the LDVI (Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics) which is the central control unit of the car, in easy terms is the neural system that controls and adjusts the settings in real-time. Knowing the fact that a person getting this car will not listen to the songs much the car comes with a decent music system. Well, the driver while driving the car has better things to listen to. But still, the car comes with a 6-speaker sound system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Talking about the driver, this supercar gets a digital instrument cluster which changes the appearance with the change in the driving modes.

Exterior
9.9/10

This is another aspect that does not need any description. The 2020 Huracan Evo got some cosmetic upgrades over its previous generation. The upgraded included a new front bumper which was a mixture of the bigger brother Aventador and the Huracan Performante. On the sides, this is where the silhouette of the vehicle remained the same. It was the rear that was complemented with a new look and appeal both in terms of aesthetics as well as utility.

The old twin pipes on either side of the car were replaced with the two pipes which protruded from mid. This opened more room to accommodate an uninterrupted rear diffuser for the enhanced aerodynamics and oh Boy! The car looked gorgeous.

The materials for all the vehicles in this category are chosen with lightweight and durability in mind. This makes the Huracan among the lightest cars but the crown goes to Mclaren which is the lightest of the bunch. That also translates to better handling and better overall ride quality is composed.

Safety
8.0/10

The car comes with a carbon fiber bucket around which the cabin of the vehicle is put together. Two separate aluminum members for the front and rear are bolted on this carbon fiber bucket. All this combines makes the car safe and when driving it offers a sense of confidence. But talking about crash-test numbers, there aren’t any. Yes, the car has not been tested for the NHTSA and IIHS crash tests. But still, the car comes with all basic and advanced safety features. These include driveline traction Control, dual-stage driver, and passenger front airbags with side airbag head extension, four-wheel steering (in AWD).

Competition

2021 Lamborghini Huracan EVO VS McLaren 570S

Both cars are in totally different leagues. The 570S is among the least powerful in this segment but power is not always the plus. On the other hand, the Mclaren is the lightest which makes the car more agile. But when it comes to the Huracan, it is more fun to drive around the twisties and on a race track. All this is possible because of its naturally aspirated V10.

2021 Lamborghini Huracan EVO VS Porsche 911 Turbo S

The 911 Turbo from Porsche is among the most versatile vehicle in this in the bunch and offers a lot more. Because of Porsche’s flat-6 under the hood which develops class-leading torque figures, it is quickest off the line. But keeping that aside, the Lamborghini offers the conveyance of lightning-fast DCT coupled with a naturally aspirated V10 engine which is just music to ears. It one can spare for a Huracan it is this car which is more fun to drive.

2021 Lamborghini Huracan EVO VS Audi R8 V10 Plus

The Audi R8 sure is in this competition but it doesn’t offer the rivalry that the Lambo deserves. The car is slower across the comparison, even with the updated interior it is the Huracan which looks better both in terms of aesthetics as well as the quality. But all these changes when the price of the vehicle comes into consideration.

Final Verdict
8.6/10

The 2021 Lamborghini when standing alone looks like an amazing package when considering the performance and the dynamics the car offers. It starts to change when the rivals kick in as they are priced way more aggrievedly that the Lambo. But not considering all that, like the 2020 model, the 2021 Huracan Evo offers a lot especially the start of the show, 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine. This engine likes to be revved and the note from the exhaust just takes out soul away. It is the Lamborghini which has the best road presence in its segment and a segment above. All in all the 2021 Evo is equally amazing as 2020 if not better.
