Low cargo capacity, Rust in roof channels on crew cab models
The 2005 Ford Ranger XL 4x4 is a great truck full stop. I purchased mine from a county mosquito control department at 130k miles and have had to do minor rust repair due to living by the shore for 18 years. Other than that, the starter went at 190k, original transmission at 203k (it spent most of its life towing 3-4K lbs regularly), radio at 197k, and a suspension overhaul at 200k. Mpg on factory...
