Overall Rating
Without any major changes for the year, the sedan offers a comfortable and spacious cabin to the passengers.
Acting as the luxury brand under the parenting of General Motors, Cadillac manages to offer attractive cars in the American market. The CTS sedan for the 2011 iteration can be happily termed as a perfect balance of class, luxury, and performance.
Since the base three trims offer similar engine power and torque output, we can easily choose the 3.0 Luxury trim. Along with getting a decent set of comfort and luxury features, the Luxury trim also gives you the option to add premium options to keep the comfort in check on the inside. All in all, choosing the Luxury trim with the Navigation system would be the best value for money option in the lineup.

Since the base three trims offer similar engine power and torque output, we can easily choose the 3.0 Luxury trim. Two different V6 are available with the 2011 Cadillac CTS. The base 3.0 trims come standard with a 3.0L V6 outputting 270 hp and 223 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6L V6 available on the top two trims offers better power and performance, exactly 306 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The standard drivetrain on both engines is a rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive remains an option for the automatic transmission models.
While the base two trims come equipped with a 6-speed manual, the other trims in the lineup offer a better 6-speed automatic. The base sedan reached the 60 mph mark in 7.1 seconds, whereas the quarter-mile is completed in 15.1 seconds.

When it comes to the driving capability of the sedan, the CTS has more than enough athleticism along with a weighted steering wheel to give strong competition to the luxury offered by Europeans in the market. With 280 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque, Acura TL seals the deal in the output department in the segment. When comparing the 0-60 mph numbers, again TL leads the pack with a recorded time of 7 seconds.
Despite owning naturally aspirated V6s under their hoods, the sedans in the segment offer decent fuel economy figures to not put a lot of strain on the pocket. The base V6 engine of the CTS offers a city mileage of 18 mpg, 27 mpg on the highway, and 22 mpg combined. The lower-powered engine of the CTS does help in getting better mileage than the rivals in the segment.

The 3.6L V6 is not far behind as it also manages to put out fuel estimates of 18/27/21 mpg for city, highway, and combined, respectively. Compared to the sedans in the segment, both the rivals provide a combined mileage of 21 mpg. Owing to its slightly bigger fuel tank capacity of Acura TL, it holds the best in class range on the block, precisely 333 miles in the city and 481 miles on the highway.
The interior of the 2011 Cadillac CTS is one of the highlights of this luxury yet sporty offering. The materials used in the cabin of the sedan are of superior quality. The cabin is distinctly curated with elements of leather and soft plastics that look elegant and feel soft and premium.
However, the CTS has its fair share of problems. One of the biggest issues is the flat and stiff seats on the base trim which hinder the comfort inside the cabin. In terms of seating, the saloon can accommodate 5 passengers with maximum comfort as both the rows are adequately spacious. It also provides a cargo capacity of 13.6 cubic feet.Â
