The 2012 Subaru Outback is powered by a 2.5 Liter Flat 4 engine delivering 170 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by the Continuously variable transmission that is equipped with it.

The power generated from the engine is delivered to all the wheels of the car through the All-Wheel-Drive layout. Though the base engine has 4 cylinders on offer, it offers enough power for most situations. There is a 6 cylinder engine also on offer for bypassing traffic and running smoothly on the highways.
