With a starting price of $14,995 for the base manual model, the 2019 Hyundai Accent is one of the most affordable models in its segment. If you are willing to spend more on the new Accent then you can avail features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Larger tires, and LED headlights. Hyundai is hoping to attract young buyers with its least expensive Sedan.
We would recommend the SEL trim as it offers several upgrades such as rear disc brakes, alloy wheels, smartphone integration and automatic headlights. You will love to have these features onboard after spending some extra money.

We would recommend the SEL trim as it offers several upgrades such as rear disc brakes, alloy wheels, smartphone integration and automatic headlights. You will love to have these features onboard after spending some extra money.
With the 130 hp 1.6 Liter DOHC Inline-4 engine, the Hyundai Accent goes neck to neck with Toyota Yaris, Chevy Sonic, Kia Rio and Ford Fiesta. The Toyota Yaris is the weakest in of the bunch with only a maximum power output of 106 hp. Compared to its rivals the Hyundai Accent is only available with a manual Gearbox for the base model.
So, if you are person that like to drive the cars feeling the pleasure of changing gears you are stuck with the base model unlike its rivals. The Chevy Sonic on the other hand, holds biggest engine among the competition set. It gets a ECOTEC 1.8-Liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Plus, the manual gearbox option is also available in the higher trims.

The Kia Rio and the Hyundai Accent share the same engine. Plus, the 1.6-liter engine on both are in the same state of tune churning out 130 hp at 3,6,300 RPM. All the vehicles in the sub-compact sedan are pretty neck and neck and all of them are offered only offered as front wheel drives.
The only thing to talk about the new Hyundai Accent is its driving dynamics. Hyundai has really worked well in the enhancement of this particular section. Since the Accent is more like a budget-oriented commuter car, anybody can drive it peacefully around the city.

In fact, when it comes to acceleration these vehicles are not going to set any records. The Accent takes 9.6 secs to reach 60 miles per hour and 17.2 secs to cover the quarter mile. However, surprising the Kia Rio with same engine manages to post a faster time.
The 2019 Accent Sedan offers 11.0-inch brakes on both front and the rear. The brakes manage to bring the car from a 60 MPH to halt in 123 ft. which is best figure comparatively. Plus, the Brake pedals are pretty responsive and engaging.

Unfortunately, we do not have the stopping distance figures for the rivals. However, we expect them to have a similar performance as the Hyundai Accent
The Accent returns impressive fuel economy on both city and highway. However, the Toyota Yaris turns out to be most fuel efficient of the bunch. The Hyundai Accent can go 28 miles on a gallon in the city and 37 miles on a highway. While the Toyota Yaris does 30 in a city and 39 on a highway.

As for the range the Hyundai Accent will go 333 miles on a full tank of gas in the city and 440 miles on a highway. However, the best in the segment again is the Toyota Yaris. The Chevrolet Sonic even though having the same gas mileage figures as the Accent returns more range thanks to its larger fuel tank.
The Accent's cabin is beautifully arranged for five passengers. The interior material provides premium feel to the occupants. There is lot of plastic, which would be used purposely to ensure comfort to the passengers. All the vehicles in the segment have similar interior space.Â

The 2019 Hyundai Accent offers a 5-inch Touchscreen Infotainment system as standard. The SEL and higher trims come with a larger 7-inch infotainment system. It also gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Although the Touchscreen experiences some lag issues, the physicals buttons are of great help
The 2019 Accent adopts a sleek design for sure with the cascading chrome grille as standard. This thing was previously available for the premium versions only. You may spend some more money to add LED headlights and turn signals. The Limited trim gets 17-inch wheels and a Hyundai hands-free cargo.

As for the dimensions all the vehicles in the segment have pretty much the same length, width, height and even ground clearance. Moreover, when it comes to weight the Accent is one of the lightest in the segment. However, the title for the lightest in the segment is the Toyota Yaris.
Unlike the rivals, the Hyundai Accent offers two advanced safety features named forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking. These features are available as standard across the trim levels. The Hyundai Accent also performed well in the IIHS crashworthiness test. Additionally, the 2019 Accent comes with other safety features like:
Offered with a smaller engine, the Yaris clearly makes its way ahead of the Accent in terms of handling, braking and acceleration. The Yaris is fun-to-drive car. Toyota has also provided an array of safety features with the Sedan, making it most reliable sedan so far. The Yaris costs thousand bucks more than the Accent.
The Chevy Sonic is offered with a 1.8 Liter engine and comes with a price tag of extra $2K than the Hyundai Accent. The Sonic has been priced competitively. If you are looking for more value for money car, the Accent is a clear winner here.
The Kia Rio comes with similar engine profile as the Accent. Interestingly, it is also $1K cheaper than the Accent. Kia Rio is known for its good build quality and impressive features. Now, it comes to your personal choice that you make while making buying decision.
The 2019 Hyundai Accent is a practical and reliable car with an attractive price tag. It offers spacious cabin that could accommodate your family comfortably. It offers an array of safety equipment that is need of the hour. Being a family Sedan, the Sedan lacks the fun-to-drive ethics. We believe that you may consider Toyota or Kia as better options against Accent.
