About 2022 Hyundai Accent

3.7

Overall Rating

The 2022 Hyundai Accent looks aged yet the assets of fuel economy up to 41 MPG and lower maintenance cost cast it as one of the most economical in the segment

The 2022 Hyundai Accent remains unchanged, throughout, from last year except for the manual transmission that has been ditched this year. Entering the space with the same trim lineup of SE, SEL, and Limited at a starting price of $16,645, it sports the same 120 hp 1.6L I-4 engine. With a practicality of up to 41 MPG and a cargo capacity of 13.7 cu-ft, the Accent inclines to be a value proposition for its price tag.

Featuring the decent 2-interior shades, the Hyundai Accent specs a spacious cabin. Meanwhile, considering to lease this 5-seater subcompact sedan will charge one $179/month for 36 months with a signing payment of $2,899. And cladded in 6 exterior colors, it has been released for sale up against the likes of the Kia Rio, Nissan Versa, and Mitsubishi Mirage G4 sedans.

The Limited trim of the 2022 Hyundai Accent is the most desirable to choose in the lineup. Simply for the fact that it has been incorporated with heating comfort for seating and automatic temperature regulation, the cabin feels more lively in this trim. Even the safety persona in this trim is slightly better than the rest. So there seems a massive increment in features for a relatively minimal increase in price.

Buying Advice

The Limited trim of the 2022 Hyundai Accent is the most desirable to choose in the lineup. Simply for the fact that it has been incorporated with heating comfort for seating and automatic temperature regulation, the cabin feels more lively in this trim. Even the safety persona in this trim is slightly better than the rest. So there seems a massive increment in features for a relatively minimal increase in price.

Engine and Performance
7.0/10

"This is a small, affordable, entry-level car that prioritizes value and efficiency far above performance."  - Kelley Blue Book

Right at the heart of the 2022 Hyundai Accent, there is a 1.6L I-4 engine that kicks in 120 hp and 113 lb-ft of torque. Hooked up with a standalone SmartStream Intelligent Variable Transmission, the power delivers from the I-4 engine to the front wheels via the FWD platform.

Pairs of struts in the front and a torsion beam in the rear monitor the wheel geometry of the Hyundai Accent, however, vibration damping struggles a lot. Along with that comes the power-assist speed sensing steering that keeps the driver's effort as minimum as possible yet the handling does not feel nimble.

The 2022 Accent has the ability to race from 0-60 MPH in 7.5 seconds and takes only 16 seconds for a quarter-mile. Meanwhile, limiting such acceleration, the Hyundai places 11-inch front vented disc brakes along with 4-wheel ABS and Brake Assist. Yet the braking distance goes beyond 170 ft that might be a concern.

The Accent comes with 42 hp more power than the Mirage G4 with which it owns a 5.3 seconds less timing for a 0-60 MPH sprint. The Versa, simultaneously, is 2 seconds slower than the Accent in the quarter-mile drag despite having 2 hp more performance surge.

Fuel Economy
9.0/10

"As Hyundai's most affordable model, the Accent delivers a good amount of value with its mix of features, strong fuel economy and relatively spacious interior." - Edmunds

The 2022 Hyundai Accent returns a combined mileage of 36 MPG that further decreases to 33 MPG when driving in city conditions. These figures when coupled with its 11.9-gallon fuel tank help it to meter up to 488 miles in a single refueling.
