Overall Rating
The Dodge Charger is an iconic muscle car from the late ‘60s and is a favorite of a lot of enthusiasts worldwide. The car has gone through a lot of upgrades through the course of time and has evolved into a retro-modern sedan.
The Dodge Charger is an iconic muscle car from the late ‘60s and is a favorite of a lot of enthusiasts worldwide. The car has gone through a lot of upgrades through the course of time and has evolved into a retro-modern sedan. Although in its current form it looks less like a muscle car and more like a modern sedan, its performance-oriented models such as the SRT 392 and the SRT Hellcat come with some tasteful exterior and interior design upgrades, that makes it more muscular than the regular models.
We would recommend you the SXT trim with an AWD layout since it comes with a generous list of features and the practicality of all-wheel-drive. But if you wish to have more power and performance at a reasonable price, the R/T would be the perfect choice.

The Dodge Charger is offered in a total of six trim levels starting from the SE. The SE trim is priced at an attractive $27,995 for the RWD layout and comes equipped with some handy features along with a 3.6liter V6 motor. There is also an option to equip the car with an AWD system but it is restricted to the V6 powered models only. Moving up to the R/T trim sees an introduction of a much bigger and powerful 5.7liter V8 motor and the car is more biased to offering a great performance by featuring performance-tuned suspension, upgraded Brembo brakes, performance-tuned steering wheel, and a sport exhaust. The R/T Scat Pack gets an even bigger 6.4liter V8 with a significant power bump and some minor performance tuning to the mechanicals. The SRT 392 gets some performance-related upgrades such as upgraded Brembo brakes and an active exhaust system. The top-end SRT Hellcat is the ultimate among all the trims and comes with an insane 6.2liter V8 with supercharging, pushing out a supercar-grade 707 horsepower and supercar shaming performance. The Hellcat is priced at a jaw-dropping $62,295 and faces no direct rivalry from its segmen.

We would recommend you the SXT trim with an AWD layout since it comes with a generous list of features and the practicality of all-wheel-drive. But if you wish to have more power and performance at a reasonable price, the R/T would be the perfect choice.
The Dodge Charger is powered by a humble 3.6liter V6 motor and it is the smallest and the least powerful one in the entire Charger lineup. The motor is tuned to generate a maximum of 292 horsepower and 260lb-ft of torque. In general and day-to-day usage, the engine feels adequately powerful, just like any other regular sedan from the segment.
It surely fails to offer the grunt and punch of the bigger V8s of the higher trim levels, yet it has its own sweet tone and a steady performance both in the city and out on the highways. The 8-speed automatic transmission works flawlessly and manages all the power from the motor quite efficiently as well.

The Chrysler 300 sedan is the mechanical twin of the Charger sedan hence, it shares its powertrain and power figures with the latter as well. The Toyota Avalon comes with a slightly smaller V6 and considerably lower power figures as well.
The Dodge Charger sedan returns some respectable fuel economy figures as compared to the performance it offers. The city mileage of the sedan is rated at 19mpg while the highway mileage is an excellent 31mpg. The combined mileage is rated at a decent 23mpg.

The Chrysler 300 sedan also shares its fuel economy ratings with the Charger as well apart from its powertrain. The Toyota Avalon has a slightly better city and combined mileage than the other two sedans on the list but has the same highway mileage as the other two sedans.
The restyled cabin of the 2015 Dodge Charger looks and feels better than before hands down. Even though you’ll find a lot of exposed hard plastics on the lower trim levels, they are anything but of cheap quality. The switches and then panels are made out of robust quality materials and the infotainment screen at the middle of the dashboard lifts up the overall appeal of the cabin.
The front seats are quite comfortable for both long and short trips and the optional sports seats on the higher performance-specced models offer excellent support along with comfort. The rear seats are also decent and have adequate space for adults to travel comfortably as well.

The Chrysler 300 sedan has a slightly better interior quality than the Charger sedan but the interior dimensions and the cabin space is almost similar to the Charger sedan. The Toyota Avalon comes with a more modern approach to the overall design language of the interior and the overall quality of the materials feel quite premium too.
Some interior features:
The Dodge Charger comes with two infotainment system options according to the trim levels. The base SE gets a decent 5-inch touchscreen display while the upper trims get the 8.4-inch touchscreen display that comes with Uconnect Access integrated smartphone apps and voice command functionality.
The audio system gets upgraded according to the trim levels and includes a basic 6-speaker audio setup, a 10-speaker beats audio system, and a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon system. Other features include satellite radio, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and USB and auxiliary audio inputs.
Highlighted infotainment features of the sedan are:
With the new design for the 2015 model year, the Dodge Charger has lost its muscular appeal it used to have, at least for the basic trim levels.
It looks more like a wide and modern sedan with a sleek front grille design and narrow headlights. The higher performance-specced trims do get some muscular appeal via exterior body kits and a different front end design.

The Toyota Avalon comes with a more modern design than the other two sedans and looks more appealing to the general public apart from those who appreciate the chunky styling and exterior dimensions of the Charger and the 300 sedan.
