It also offers a high-end interior, a plethora of techs, and features along with comfortable seats. Still, there are a few drawbacks that the Coupe carries.
Now in its third generation, the 2-door 2018 Infiniti Q60 Coupe parades with an enticing new shape that looks sleek and sophisticated. Entering as an all-new model, the Japanese automaker has made sure that the Q60 comprehensively takes on its German rivals like BMW 4 Series and the Mercedes Benz C-Class effectively and grabs all the attention it can.
Infiniti has offered five trims and three engines to choose from. The base 2.0t Pure trims get a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine while the 3.0t trims get a 3.0-liter V6 and the prices start at $38,950, which undercuts the competition and creates even more curiosity in the minds of the probable buyers.
Go with the 3.0t Sport that gets upgraded front seats along with adaptive suspension dampers. This trim is also available with several optional packages like the ProAssist package that adds safety features and the ProActive package which comes bundled with a Direct Adaptive Steering system

Infiniti has powered the 2018 Q60 Coupe with a trio of engine options. All the base trims are powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that makes 208 horsepower and 258-pound-feet of torque. This engine feels sluggish, and you may get swayed toward the more powerful 3.0-liter V6 engine available on the 3.0t trims that generates 300 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque and delivers much quicker acceleration.
A seven-speed automatic transmission is standard across all trims, while the rear-wheel drive is standard and an all-wheel drive is available.

The base model lacks the power and punch that one would expect from a coupe and hence the performance isn’t really striking. It takes 6.9 seconds to go from 0-60 mph while it covers a quarter-mile in 15.2 seconds. The base engine does well though to achieve a top speed of 143 mph, which is not bad considering the power output.

The timing of the Q60 is not the best in the class, but it is better than the Lexus RC 300 that takes 7.3 seconds to cover the distance. The BMW 430i meanwhile offers best in class acceleration as it makes 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. The 2018 Infiniti Q60 loses the quarter-mile drag race too, coming at 17.3 seconds, while the rivals like BMW 430i impresses with 14.3 seconds.
The brakes have enough bite to stop you at the right moment as the 12.6-inch front and 12.1-inch rear brakes of the 2018 Infiniti Q60 halt the car from 60 mph in 113 feet, which is good but not the best when compared to others in the class.
There is also not much nosedive while braking at speed.

The Lexus RC 300 does a great job as it has one of the shortest stopping distances despite being the heaviest car in the comparison. The BMW, being among the lighter cars, only manages to match the Lexus, while the C300, which is the lightest of them all, has the quickest set of brakes. Infiniti manages to be last here, but the performance is not poor in any which way, just the competitors have taken things up a notch.
The ride quality is comfortable over bumpy roads, and the 2018 Infiniti Q60 handling feels secure. The optional adaptive steering meanwhile feels disconnected as there is minimal feedback from the road and provides inconsistent responses at varying speeds, thus it is best to be avoided. The suspension is tight enough to keep the coupe nimble around turns while keeping the body roll in check.
With various driving modes on offer, the Q60 coupe can deliver a comfortable and relaxed ride, or perform in a more dynamic and athletic way by selecting the Sports mode. Although, lower speeds prove to be tricky for the seven-speed automatic gearbox as it tends to lag between shifts. The Sport model boasts of a dynamic digital suspension and an efficient set of sport brakes that add to the responsiveness and grip on the road.
The base 2018 Infiniti Q60 is rated at 22 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg combined, which is not bad considering the segment it resides in. The larger 3.0-liter V6 engine meanwhile consumes more fuel with an EPA rating of 19 mpg city and 28 mpg on highways. The 20-gallon gas tank helps the Q60 with the base engine to achieve 500 miles of combined city and highway driving. The all-wheel-drive setup further drops these ratings by about 1 mpg on all the models wherever it is available.

The Q60 can give a competition, but it loses to the likes of BMW 430i Coupe which has the best EPA fuel economy ratings here, which is followed by the Lexus. The Mercedes manages to match the fuel economy of the Infiniti but gets a smaller fuel tank. Infiniti along with a decent fuel economy, also manages to offer the largest fuel tank of 20 gallons on the table.
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 seats four, while the front seats offer good side and back support to make you feel comfortable. The front seats are easy to acquire and have ample space to accommodate adults. Standard leatherette seats are present on the 2.0-liter engine models, while the semi-aniline leather seats are optional on the lower trims and standard for the Sport variants. They also get 8-way power adjustability ensuring the drivers get customized seating positions and a good view of the road.
The cabin of the Q60 features a beautiful, premium-feel interior, although it does seem dated in comparison to the rivals. There are numerous textures and premium high-end materials all around the interior surfaces but nothing can make the rear seat experience a great one. It is best suited for kids and teenagers as tall passengers would have a tough time traveling for longer distances.Â

Seating for four is the norm in the segment as all cars here feature that. Space up front is great for front passengers, but no car can offer comfortable seating for tall rear-seat passengers. The RC 300 has the most compact rear seat while the C300 has the maximum legroom. Few key interior features include-
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 has two infotainment screens that can be gawky to use. The lower screen controls the cabin feature while the upper screen shows navigation and driving information. The graphics are not user-friendly and can be hard to navigate.
One of the biggest negative is that the coupe does not offer smartphone integration like the Android Auto or the Apple CarPlay. Standard Infotainment features include:
The Infiniti Q60 has a truck capacity of 8.7 cu-ft, which is unimpressive as compared to all the rivals in the segment. The rear seat, however, folds to haul long objects, but there are not too many cubbies to store small items. The cabin space is less for a proper outing of a family, rather it can only fix in a luggage or two.

The BMW again triumphs over the competition with the largest trunk capacity amongst the cars present here, in fact, it is almost twice the size of the Q60. The Mercedes has a slightly smaller boot than the BMW, while there is no doubt that the Infiniti Q60 has the least amount of cargo space.
The sleek, sharp, and aerodynamic design of the Q60 is definitely a head-turner. The tail lamps and exhausts at the rear make the Q60 look like something straight out of a Fast & Furious movie. In terms of dimensions, the 2018 Infiniti Q60 is neither the longest nor the heaviest in the segment. However, it gets the longest wheelbase with 111.2 inches while the ground clearance stands at 4.9 inch, which is enough for everyday city and highway use.

The Lexus RC 300 is the heaviest and the longest car and yet has the shortest wheelbase. It also has the best in class ground clearance with BMW having marginally lower ride height. The Infiniti has the longest wheelbase in this comparison, while the Mercedes is the widest car here.
Infiniti has not compromised when it comes to safety. The Q60 has most of the safety tech and features, making it one of the safest cars in the segment. The coupe is however unrated as both the federal and the independent agency have not crash-tested the Q60 into the wall. The base variant is equipped with all the standard safety features like airbags, ABS, ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor), etc., however, the higher trims get additional features like front-seat pre-crash seat belts, backup collision intervention, blind-spot warning, and blind-spot intervention. Few important safety features include-
The Lexus RC 300 costs a few thousand dollars more than the 2018 Infiniti Q60, and it doesn’t really justify the price tag. The Q60 offers better performance, and there is also a good amount of rear-seat space, although, both the coupes have a cramped rear seat and a clunky infotainment system.
If you have to choose between the two, the Infiniti Q60 makes more sense.
Both the Infiniti Q60 and the Mercedes Benz C-Class offer three powertrain options, but the C-Class despite having more power offers similar fuel economy. It also has more legroom in the rear seat and can seat five instead of four in the Q60.
The base Mercedes C-Class costs more than the Infiniti, but it is worth the money and is the more sensible choice.
The BMW 4 Series is one of the most athletic cars in the segment and has the best performance figures to justify that. It offers best in class cargo capacity and far better fuel economy than the Infiniti Q60. The second-row seats are cramped in both these coupes, but the BMW still offers more space than the Infiniti.
There is a hefty price difference between the Q60 and the 4 Series as the BMW costs roughly $3,500 more than Infiniti. The Infiniti Q60 is a good enough coupe to satisfy most drivers but driving enthusiasts will be better off in the Bimmer.
The 2018 Infiniti Q60 is one of the cheapest coupes in its class and is a good alternative to its pricier German rivals like the BMW and the Mercedes. It has three different powertrains along with an upscale cabin and a comfortable ride to satisfy most drivers. The Q60 ,however, fails to impress with subpar fuel economy and small cargo trunk. The Infiniti is definitely worthy of a look but you can get more by paying a little extra for the rivals like Lexus or the Mercedes.
