Overall Rating
The Infiniti Q60 is powered by a 3.0L, twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Priced at $54,900, it is quite premium and invites competition from rather premium competitors as well.
Dating back to the early 2000s, the Q60 is the proud successor to Nissan’s G series lineup. There is a certain kind of resemblance in the exterior along with a series of feature updates which has kept the buyer entertained. It's a solid offering and a reliable one too, however, few glitches in the interior and low cargo area might discourage the logical buyers.
The 3.0 LUXE trim is the most value of money variant in the Q60. While the available features widely resemble the PURE trim, you get access to more add ons which are worth a try.

The Q60 has two trims which are powered by the same 3.0L, turbocharged, V6 engine to produce 300 horsepower. The Red Sport however, gets 400 horsepower from the same engine, bigger brakes, adaptive suspension - all of which comes together to make the Q60 Red Sport a very different car. The Q60 is available in two variants - rear wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

The 3.0 LUXE trim is the most value of money variant in the Q60. While the available features widely resemble the PURE trim, you get access to more add ons which are worth a try.
Inside the long elegant hood, the Q60 hides a 3.0L Twin turbo V6 engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. This standard powertrain drills out 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The engine remains a free spirit right from the start. Your foot remains in charge of frequent bursts of power ready to zoom the car with every push. The engine orchestra sounds positive too.

The 7-speed automatic transmission does not share a similar positive vibe. It's slow and uninspiring which hits a rock bottom with the paddle shifters which rather than making the shifts quick does the opposite. There is a notable lag in the shifts which can be gruesome for any enthusiast.
The engine feels eager, still it's the fastest coupe in the lot. It takes 6.9 seconds to race to 60 mph which is pretty respectable for the Q60 and in the segment. However, the Germans took the center stage with their brute muscle strength.

Still, the Q60 is fast enough to pin you back on your seat as you nail the accelerator down. It's something you will witness in many cars but coming from an Infiniti it’s commendable.
The Q60 has a pretty good ride quality for what it is. In its comfort mode, the suspension is soft and supple and soaks up undulations really well. The cabin is quiet and pleasant even when cruising at higher speeds. Road noise and wind noise also seem to be well insulated. Not quite perfect but still pretty good.
Dial up the notches to the Sports+ mode and the suspension gets firmer but not to the point that it gets harsh. It does not lean around corners and maintains its balance quite well indeed. Shuffling between the drive modes brings about quite some change in the car's character, most noticeable being the throttle response which goes from quite lazy in normal mode to aggressive and adequately responsive in the Sport+ mode.
However, what's disappointing is the steering in the Q60 which lets the entire experience quite down indeed. The Q60 uses a drive by wire steering system and there is absolutely no connection with the wheels. The system feels very artificial and at no point do you know where your wheels are, it allows no feedback at all. The car will still go where you point it to but it feels weird and would take some time getting used to.
There are bigger brakes in the Red Sport however, the standard Q60 employs shorter brakes. The brakes are pretty good and they provide good stopping power. The Q60 takes 113 ft to halt from 60 mph which though not the best, is again pretty respectable in the lot.

The pedal remains calm and composed without any fade which is a trait of efficiency in a driver's car. When put in comparison with those models, the Q60 does not enjoy many advantages as such. But then again, the Q60 was more oriented towards being a fairly exciting family car, rather than a performance vehicle.
The Q60 does not have an appetite for fuel though it's not exactly a frugal one either. Surprisingly the extra power on the Red Sport doesn't have the slightest effect on fuel economy. Hence, you can enjoy better power and performance without sacrificing mileage.

On the other hand, it's not the most lucrative thing for the standard Q60 buyer. In the city, the Q60 delivers 19 mpg mileage which the highway run stretched to 28 mpg. It's similar to what other brands are offering but you can get better numbers too.
While it looks gorgeous on the outside, the inside does not have the same story. While the design and layout of the interiors are quite pleasing, the dual screen setup is really not cool. Automobile manufacturers should understand that a screen for all operations in a vehicle is not convenient at all. Operating the screens requires you to take your eyes off the road while you are driving and the screen itself is not very responsive to touch. There is a noticeable lag there.
The upper screen is the navigation and media screen while the lower one controls the climate controls and various other vehicle functions. The upper screen is flanked by the AC vents on both sides and the lower one has a stack of physical buttons on either side. The console then has a sweeping flow down the center to house the gear lever and the infotainment controls.

The rest of the cabin is quite pleasing though and has been put together quite aesthetically. Quality of materials are really nice and fit and finish is good too. There is a nice glossy carbon fiber like trim on the doors and dashboard which looks quite cool. The instrument cluster has two analog dials with a small screen in between them. The Q60 has screens at the wrong places it seems.
The Dual screen setup is the only major point of disappointment in the Q60. The graphics on the upper media screen is not so great and the system is really slow to respond to touch inputs. It can also be controlled via a rotary dial on the center console and it's better to use it that way. Overall, the system feels dated.
The lower screen which looks after climate controls and various other vehicle settings are very distracting to use while driving and this too, is quite slow to react to inputs. The graphics are somewhat better and they are a few shortcut buttons stacked on either side of the screen. We are not much of a fan of this system and we would have really liked some simpler physical buttons and dials.
The Infiniti Q60 has the smallest boot in the segment at just 8.7 cu.ft of space. The other coupes have almost double the cargo capacity of the Q60. Still, it will pack in a couple of medium sized bags and a little more maybe. It will pack more than what it seems it can pack at least.

The Q60 is a very good looking car indeed and it has very good proportions of a sports coupe. The front fascia is dominated by the large quadrangle Infiniti grille with kinks near the headlamps. The headlamps themselves are very stylish with very cool LED DRLs. The front bumper is quite aggressive with cuts and creases and also houses the fog lamps with a chrome garnish around them.
When looked at from the side, one can see the beautiful proportions of the car with a nice silhouette. The sides are primarily dominated by sweeping curves and creases to make for some muscular rear haunches. There's an air scoop just behind the front wheels and the large 20-inch wheels look stunning. However, the window line has a rather awkward kink in the rear quarter which for some is the only fly in the ointment. look
The rear quarter is perhaps the most attractive angle of the car. The sloping roofline comes down to make a tiny boot spoiler and the LED tail lamps are very sleek and smart. It certainly looks like it belongs to a much premium car. A curvy posterior and a few more cuts in the bumper finished off with a mild diffuser and twin exhaust pipes complete the look for the Q60 Red Sport. The detailing on the exhaust pipes are also really impressive.

The Q60 closely follows Genesis G70 when it comes to dimensions. It's 6 inches shorter from a full-fledged executive which means this coupe has a lot of space. It's 72.8 inches in width from ear to ear. Most of its long length is endured on the wheelbase rather than the cargo which is a major issue.
Both the NHTSA and the IIHS are pleased with how the 2019 Infiniti Q60 has performed in their tests. The Red Sport package adds a rich safety suit which is not there for the standard Q60. Apart from standard airbags, the car comes with a lot of active safety features such as Forward Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Prevention with Active Lane Control. In fact, the list of safety features in the Red Sport make it one of the best in the segment in terms of safety. Some of the notable safety features include:
The Lexus RC costs a few thousand dollars more than the 2019 Infiniti Q60, but it justifies its price tag. Lexus offers better performance and there is also a good amount of feedback from the steering. The RC also has a zestier engine, as its most powerful engine makes 467 hp which is more than the Q60 Red Sport 400. Both the Coupe meanwhile has a cramped rear seat and a clunky infotainment system.
Both the Infiniti Q60 and the Mercedes Benz C Class offer three powertrain options but the C Class despite having more power offers better fuel economy. It also has more legroom in the rear seat and seats five instead of four in the Q60. The base Mercedes C Class cost $1,300 more than the Infiniti but it is worth the money.
The BMW 4 Series is one of the most athletic cars in the segment. It offers best in class cargo capacity and far better fuel economy than the Infiniti Q60. The second-row seats are cramped in both these Coupe but that is a common problem for cars in this segment. There is a hefty price difference between the Q60 and the 4 series as the BMW costs $4,550 more than its Infiniti rival. The Infiniti Q60 is a good enough Coupe to satisfy most drivers but driving enthusiasts will be better off in the BMW.
Infiniti did something good with the Q60, they deliver a decent price to power ratio which beats many other offers in the market right now. The engine's potency keeps your ride rolling and the comfort and body control keeps the ride engaging. It might lack Red Sport's 100 horses but it's enough for what the Q60 intended for. However, it's not a bulletproof offer, the clumsy transmission takes out the fun of driving, also the dual screen infotainment is showing its age. Otherwise, it's a worthy option for your consideration.
