The recall has been issued for the sixth-generation Camaro and GM plans to fix an issue with the driver’s side airbag emblem that could become a projectile and may increase injury chances in the event of an accident.

In the weirdest of recalls, this one is again from General Motors and as bizarre as it may sound this one is about the emblem fixed on the steering wheel. Yes, we are talking about Camaro here from Chevrolet. The issue being its emblem on the driver-side airbag cover might hurt you physically on deployment.

The recall number to this is N212327220 as issued by GM and this one is very straightforward and clear. In the event of a crash and hence the deployment of the airbag the emblem on the steering column would come flying out of inertia from the rapid blowout. The emblem would work as a projectile which can potentially hurt the driver.

General Motors have already curbed the problem and for now, only 30 Camaros have this potential problem and it includes the 2017 to 2021 model year Chevrolet Camaro. The cars affected have their badges improperly stuck with the molded plastic process which causes the emblem to come loose when rapidly accelerated by the expansion of airbags.

There haven’t been any reported injuries and accidents caused by the emblem coming loose. Out of almost 200,000 Camaros manufactured in the last 5 years, 30 is obviously a very small number. So issuing a recall and undertaking the process won’t be much difficult as well.

The owners will be called soon and GM dealerships would be fixing the issue with no costs incurred by the owners. Dealerships would also hold any of the Camaros that have the problem and hence will not be sold.

Other than the recall, GM has been in the news for good reasons as it recently unveiled the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV that is based on their Ultium EV platform. GM is being aggressive on its EV strategy as it has embarked on a mission of going carbon neutral by 2040. GM also recently changed its logo as a commitment to this strategy of theirs.
