Many companies are going under the scanner for recalls. And it isn’t just the recent Japanese makers, VWs, it recently also included Tesla for their faulty microchip that would just buzz out the touchscreen. And this time it is the American giant that is facing the recall issue. Ford has recently issued a safety compliance recall for 286 Ford Explorer vehicles and what makes this different is these are all Police Interceptor vehicles. The 286 number also includes a bunch of 2020 Lincoln Aviator models too.
What further makes it different from usual recalls that include faulty part/delicate circuit boards this one is about the ‘contaminated’ windshield washer liquid. Which isn’t able to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle standards. While there are a total of 286 vehicles, 3 of them reside in Canada. The vehicles that would be undergoing the recall are all built at the Chicago Assembly Plant. And specifically, include Ford Explorer Police Interceptor vehicles from May 26 to 30, 2020 and Lincoln Aviator vehicles from May 28 to June 2, 2020.
While Ford isn’t confirming any injuries and mishaps regarding this issue, it is mostly the standards that the liquid isn’t able to comply with. The recalled vehicles will be offered to go to the dealer who will flush the washer system and hence replace the windshield washer fluid. Other parts that would be needing the swap would be the washer bottle neck, washer pump assembly, fluid level sensor and front/rear weir blades. Perhaps it is not just the ‘fluid’ issue.
