The good thing about this recall is the fact that this recall doesn’t affect the 2021 Venza but the 2009-2015 built Venzas. All repair work will be done free of charge, and for any owner who had already taken care of this issue, is eligible for a reimbursement. Owners will start getting official notification from Toyota May end.

Global auto giant Toyota Motor Corporation has announced a recall for approximately 279,040 Venzas, specifically models released from 2009 to 2015, due to a flaw in the driver door side wiring that will lead to side Airbag system inoperativeness.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published the vehicle recall details on their website. As per the document, the flawed wiring may lead to a sensor failure inside and curtain airbags in case of a crash, which technically jeopardizes the vehicle occupants' safety, as the airbags might not function.

The problem is caused by a certain wiring harness used only in the production of these Venzas. However, Toyota claims that only 1% of the recalled cars would have defective systems.

NHTSA has made the details of the cars that are supposed to be recalled on their website. A customer can visit the website and inquire about the availability of a recall feature for their car using their 17-Digit Vehicle identification number (VIN). The inquiry will then be checked, and the website will let the customer know if there is an open recall on the particular vehicle.

A technician inspection will be issued for the particular car, and if needed, will replace the faulty harness from the driver-side door free of charge. For particular customers who have already fixed the issue, a reimbursement can be filled for the eligible repairs and the rest can reach their nearest Toyota service station. The owners will be mailed a notice by the end of May, informing further procedures.
