The vehicles affected are the ones that have been built from the 2015 model year onwards. A total of 60,678 of these midsize pickups will be affected by this recall. GM will fix the poor electrical connection in the steering gear assembly that may cause power steering failure and eventually lead to an accident.

General Motors has been plagued with numerous recalls this season and the last one being around the Chevy Camaro this one is about the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. NHTSA recently issued a recall which covers over 60k midsize pickup trucks starting from the model year 2015 with the issue being power steering failure.

The underlying issue as said by GM are poor electrical connections under the steering assembly. The problem appears when the car is run and power steering doesn’t work like it is supposed to. This is a major issue because the loss of power steering can cause serious crashes/accidents while driving. While the power steering is designed to be fail-safe and it still works without power assistance. The error is shown accordingly in the instrument console.

There are no reported injuries due to this issue as of now. To mend the problem, the technician would be installing a new steering gear torque sensor. The swap will be done free of charge and the owners who have gotten this fixed at their own expense would be reimbursed. The notices will be issued in the month of May.

GM had issued the recall for its Camaro to fix an issue that pertains to the Camaro badge on the steering wheel of the car that could eventually turn out to be a projectile in the event of an accident, causing unwanted harm and damage to the driver.

It also recently announced that it will be building an all-electric Silverado pickup at its Factory Zero plant, just after it officially debuted the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV to the world.
