Porsche recalls nearly 43,000 Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo models to update the faulty software, which causes an unexpected loss in power. NHTSA issued the recall after nine such complaints were made.

Porsche, a luxury sports carmaker, recalls approximately 43,000 Taycan electric cars worldwide because of a glitch that causes a sudden unexpected loss of power. The company announced Friday. You will need to bring your car to a repair shop to fix the problem. Unfortunately, an over-the-air update of the software is not possible in this situation.

Porsche stated that a workshop appointment should be made as soon as possible. The software update will take approximately an hour. The 202-2021 model year Porsche Taycans are affected by this issue, including the newly launched Cross Turismo.

Earlier some reports suggested that Porsche's luxury electric sedan, the Taycan, was being probed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(NHTSA). The Federal bureau said in a record that its investigation started an evaluation on 2020-2021 Porsche Taycan's following nine complaints by owners regarding the "total loss of power while in motion without any warning."

All nine complaints stipulate that the power loss happened unexpectedly without any error messages displayed on the instrument cluster. However, a couple of owners did note one message appeared saying an "electric system error" and asked the driver to park the car in a safe spot. Equally upsetting, six owners said they were unable to start their Taycans following the power loss. For the time being, the preliminary evaluation is still ongoing without a recall issued.

The German firm also stated that none of the Taycan owners had mishaps due to the problem, and no one was harmed. They also made a point to assure that the Taycan is still safe to drive and that these problems are being approached quickly and thoroughly.

Porsche has released a software update that will modify the vehicle's engine control unit(ECU) and power electronics. The update has been applied to some vehicles, and dealers will be updating their inventory. An error in communication between the drivetrain modules will not cause a loss of power. The software update will not trigger that problem.

According to the carmaker, it is possible that the affected vehicles could experience a sudden and unexpected loss of drive power. The software will shut down the drive if there is an error in communication between the drive control unit (pulse inverter) and the software to prevent a mis-control or unintended acceleration.
