The 2026 BMW iX is available in three variants—iX xDrive45, iX xDrive60, and iX M70 xDrive and comes with a noticeable improvement in power, range, and styling over its outgoing 2025 predecessor.
The exterior design of the 2026 iX is more streamlined and sportier than the old variant. It now features a reworked and sharper BMW grille with an updated frame, a new vertical and diagonal line structure, and the option for illuminated grille designs.
The headlights are redesigned with vertical elements and cornering lights, the M Sport Package is available for the iX, adding dynamic styling elements like M alloy wheels, powerful air intakes, and sportier lines. Exclusive design features for the M70 include a model-specific kidney grille, black mirror caps, and 22-inch M wheels.

The M Sport package further enhances the interior with an M leather steering wheel, M pedals, and a two-tone instrument panel. Additional luxury options include the Climate Comfort Package, which heats various surfaces to ensure comfort for all passengers, and a Panoramic Eclipsing Roof with electrochromatic shading to adjust light levels inside the cabin.
The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System, optional on the xDrive45 and xDrive60 has a crazy 30-speaker setup. The iX features a Curved Display with iDrive 8.5, which allows intuitive control via touch or voice commands.
The iX M70 xDrive, a new addition for 2026, offers up to 650 horsepower, a 40-horsepower increase from the 2025 M60. This results in an improved 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds, compared to 3.8 seconds in the 2025 model. The iX xDrive60 also gains a 20-horsepower boost, now delivering 536 horsepower, reducing its 0-60 mph time to 4.4 seconds. The base iX xDrive45 sees a modest increase to 402 horsepower, providing better performance than its predecessor.

The range also gets a significant boost with the 2026 models. Thanks to improved battery technology and more efficient power electronics, the iX xDrive60 now offers up to 340 miles of range, a 16-mile increase from the 2025 model's 324 miles.
However, the iX M70 has a slightly reduced range due to its higher performance, expected to offer around 302 miles, down from the previous M60’s 324 miles. The iX xDrive45 offers up to 312 miles of range, which is an improvement over the previous model's estimated 277 miles.
All variants use advanced drive and battery technology, including a new silicon carbide inverter that enhances power conversion efficiency and range.

The supports fast charging with up to 195 kW (iX xDrive60 and M70 xDrive models) and up to 175 kW for the xDrive45. The vehicle also supports the Plug & Charge Multi Contract function, simplifying the charging process at compatible stations.
Overall, the 2026 BMW iX offers improved performance, cutting-edge technology, and enhanced luxury, making it a standout in the fully electric luxury SUV market. Production begins in March 2025, with deliveries expected to start in the second quarter of the year. Pricing starts at $75,150 for the xDrive45, $88,500 for the xDrive60, and $111,500 for the M70 xDrive.
