Exterior
The Kia Tasman is supposed to look like a Tiger, whatever that means. The massive bulgy hood is flanked by a couple of vertical-oriented signature lighting integrated into the headlamps. It looks more like a mine-clearing vehicle than a pick-up, but looks are subjective. You may dig them; I don’t.
The fender is pretty high-strung and provides a lot of clearance for a design that combines practical features like headlights and storage units with functionality and a confident aesthetic.
At the rear, a bold stamped logo on the tailgate seamlessly integrates the tailgate handle and high-mounted stop-lamp for added utility The 2025 Kia Tasman comes in Clear White, Snow Pearl White, Steel Gray, Interstellar Gray, Cityscape Green, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl, and the new Tan Beige and Denim Blue.
Interior
Kia has done away with all the frills and focused solely on what the true consumer of Tasman would need, a lot of space and utility.Inside, the robust and rugged design aligns perfectly with your expectations of a pickup truck
You’ll get a trio of 12.3-inch + 5-inch + 12.3-inch panoramic widescreen technology, giving you and your passenger easy access to vehicle controls and infotainment options. There is an optional eight-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
The 2025 Tasman has a large folding console table, dual wireless charging pads, and hidden storage bins beneath the rear seats. The headroom, shoulder room, and second-row legroom are pretty generous at 940mm, with rear seats that recline between 22 and 30 degrees for added comfort.
The Tasman also has eco-friendly bits and bobs like crash pads made from bio-plastics, seats crafted from recycled PET fabric, and bio-PU synthetic leather. T
The paints composition is BTX-free and bio-based, while the interior carpet features recycled PET material. You can choose from five interior trim colorways: Onyx Black/Medium Gray, Espresso Brown/Onyx Black, and Deep Green/Medium Gray. For the off-road-focused X-Line and X-Pro models, two-tone options are available.
The Kia Tasman comes in a double cab base model, with X-Line and X-Pro trims available. The X-Pro offers superior off-road performance with a ground clearance of approximately 9.9 inches, equipped with 17-inch gloss-black wheels and all-terrain tires, while the X-Line features 18-inch alloy wheels with highway and terrain tires.
Four-bed accessory configurations are offered: Single Decker, Double Decker, Sports Bar, and Ladder Rack, with the first three available at launch.
Performance and MPG
Based on a fully optimized body-on-frame platform, the Kia Tasman features a 281-horsepower 2.5-liter petrol engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission in Korea, delivering 310 lb-ft of torque for 0-60 mph acceleration in approximately 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph. It can return 19 MPG.
Aussies get to enjoy a 210-horsepower 2.2-liter diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, producing 325 lb-ft of torque for a 0-60 mph time of approximately 10.4 seconds and a 30 MPG fuel economy.
Other regions, including the Middle East and Africa, offer both the 2.5-liter petrol engine and a choice of the 2.2-liter diesel engine with varying transmission options.
Capability
The new Tasman comes with double-wishbone front suspension and rear features a rigid axle with leaf springs for solid hauling and towing.
The fancy frequency selective Sensitive Damper Control and Hydraulic Rebound Stop can further tame the NVH levels.
Another quirk the Tasman has is its air intake is positioned inside the fender, allowing for water-fording capabilities of up to approximately 31.5 inches at a speed of 4.3 mph.
All-wheel drive is standard on the X-Line and X-Pro, with optional AWD on the base model.
The X-Pro model features an automatically engaging rear Electronic Locking Differential and X-Trek mode, allowing for low-speed off-road navigation without manual acceleration or braking.
The Ground View Monitor lets you take a peek at the terrain just like the one in Hummer EV.
Practicality
The Tasman has corner steps for easy access to the load bed and a power outlet for tools or devices. The sliding cargo floor and folding console table allow for a seamless transition from a work vehicle to a mobile office.
The Kia Tasman’s load bed measures approximately 59.5 inches long, 62 inches wide (46.7 inches between the wheel wells), and 21.3 inches deep, providing a cargo capacity of approximately 41.4 cubic feet. With a maximum payload of 2,641 pounds in 2WD mode and a towing capacity of 7,717 pounds.
