The EX-L trim makes the most sensible option among the four trim levels. At a pocket friendly price tag it offers a lot of features and you can opt for the 4WD layout if you want to take your SUV occasionally to adventurous routes or you stay in a cold place with frequent snowfalls in the winters.
The 2013 Honda Pilot is powered by a 3.5liter gasoline V6 engine which is good for a maximum power output of 250 horsepower and 253lb-ft of torque. Themotor might feel a bit underpowered on paper, but out on the roads, it offers just adequate punch to get around the city and do highway cruising effortlessly.
The motor doesn’t like to be pushed hard though and with the Pilot’s heft, it picks up the pace gradually in a linear manner. The motor feels quite refined though and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The transmission unit ensures the power delivery is optimum and stays on the right gear most of the time.

The Ford Explorer is the most powerful SUV on the list while the Kia Sorento comes close to it in terms of horsepower output. The Hondas Pilot might be the least powerful on the list but its torque figures are just at par with the rivals on the list.
A great fuel economy was never any SUV’s forte and the 2013 Honda Pilot is no different. But given the vehicle’s heft and size, the fuel economy ratings are quite decent though. The city mileage stands at a decent 19mpg while the highway rating stands at a healthy 27mpg. The combined mpg rating is 22.

Among the rivals on the list, the Nissan Pathfinder is surprisingly the most fuel efficient one despite housing a sizable V6 under the hood and pushing out some healthy power figures too. The Ford Explorer is the least fuel efficient on the list closely followed by the Kia Sorento.
The Honda Pilot somewhat disappoints when it comes to the interior of the vehicle. The cabin materials are made out of low quality materials and feel quite cheap for the price while lacking robustness. There is no lack of space though, and the seats are quite comfortable too.
The instrumentation has been presented clearly with thoughtfully placed details. The tri-zone automatic climate control ensures that the passengers on all the three rows are comfortable throughout the journey.

The Ford Explorer is much more comfortable and spacious than the Pilot and the same goes for the Nissan Pathfinder too with its surprisingly roomy and spacious cabin. The Kia Sorento is the least spacious SUV on the list along with the least amount of boot space too.
The 2013 Honda Pilot comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is quite smooth and user-friendly. The infotainment system includes some standard features such as Bluetooth, a seven-speaker audio system, and a USB port.
Some important features of the infotainment system of the Pilot are:
The Honda Pilot comes with a heavily understated styling on the exterior. Starting with the front fascia, the front grille is draped with chrome bearing the Honda logo and the big headlamp units flank it quite nicely.
The front bumper has a sleek air inlet for the air intakes and houses the fog lamps. The side profile also looks slim with sculpted wheel arch bumps. The rear also looks quite neat with dual exhaust pipes and a set of average sized tail lights.
