The 2015 Buick Enclave is equipped with a single 3.6-liter engine option for all the available trims. The engine generates 288 hp and provides great performance when compared to its rivals.

Overview

Being a premium vehicle, the Buick Enclave is somewhat costlier than many of its counterparts. It comes with a single powertrain, a 3.3 L V6 with the choice of a drivetrain. However, the base trim is limited only to a front-wheel-drive layout. A 6-speed automatic transmission is present on all the trims. The engine is quiet, and the ride quality excellent. The suspension system makes sure all the uneven patches of the road are uniformly soaked up without any disturbance in the cabin. Strong safety ratings make it more admirable.

As per our recommendation, we would like you to stick with the Leather trim. This trim is the intermediate trims and has certain features from the top trim as well as certain features which the base trim misses out. Plus, you get the option to avail an All-Wheel-Drive setup, which would not be possible in the case of the base trim.

Engine and Performance

Powering the Buick Enclave is a 3.6 Liter V6 engine that helps in generating 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Power from the engines goes through the 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission, which powers the front-wheel-drive of the car.

There is no powertrain option as the same 3.6 Liter V6 which powers the base trim also serves the purpose of the top-end one. Apart from the base trim, there is an optional availability of All-Wheel-Drive.

The most powerful of the lot is none other than the Buick Enclave with the highest horsepower and torque on offer. The Chevrolet Traverse grabs the second position in terms of performance. All the cars in this category come with a 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission, except Nissan Murano that comes equipped with a CVT one.

There is no denying the fact that the Buick Enclave is an oil burner. The Buick Enclave returns a mileage of 17 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg combined. The Chevrolet Traverse also has a similar engine and the mileage figures are exactly identical. The 2015 Ford Edge has an advantage because of the smaller displacement engine.

In the fuel economy section, the Ford Edge is the clear winner. It has a fuel-efficiency of 23 mpg in the city, 32 mpg on the highway, and 26 mpg combined. The Nissan Murano comes second in position after the Edge. While the Buick and Chevrolet are less on the mileage, they compensate for that with a higher tank capacity that helps them to run for more miles on the road giving an impressive range higher than the others in the segment.

As the Buick Enclave is a three-row SUV, you get the option to choose bench seats or captain’s chair for the middle row. The car is spacious, and all three rows offer a good amount of headroom and legroom. Though the third row of seats is mainly for the kids, adult passengers can sit comfortably for shorter trips.

However, it lacks in the fuel economy section with the V6 engine being quite a gas-guzzler. Putting aside that, it is good with interior technology, especially the infotainment system which has a lot of features to offer. In the end, the SUV holds adequate features and potential to be considered in the segment.
