The QX80's features are sufficient enough from both a Luxury and safety perspective. The Standard variant with an all-wheel drivetrain and technology package is enough to boost its performance and functionality. You can opt for the higher trims for added features and the top-end Limited trim is an AWD only variant.

Engine and Performance
8.5/10

The Infiniti QX80 features a 400hp 5.6l V8 engine with a 7-speed adaptive transmission which is automatic but can be manually shifted too. Transmission is adaptive because it adapts itself in a way that you drive your car.

It features a rear-wheel drivetrain with optional four-wheel drive. The powerhouse is the same as its old version and it produces 413 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4000 rpm which is enough to roll the big boy around.

The QX80 has the best in class powerhouse except for the Escalade ESV which leads the segment featuring a 420 hp engine. On the other hand, the Lexus LX 570 features a 383hp engine which is pretty low for the $90,075 price tag. The GLS 450 has a power output of 362 hp.

2017 Infiniti QX80 Acceleration

The Infiniti QX80 hits 0-60 mph in only 6.2 sec with a quarter-mile margin of 14.8 sec, it is pretty impressive for a heavy SUV like this. The massive engine producing 413 lb.-ft. torque sure pays off. The straight-line performance is good and there is adequate stability while sprinting.

Compared to the QX80 the Mercedes GLS 450 being less powerful performs 0.1 sec better whereas the Lexus stays way behind. The Cadillac ESV leads the segment which was pretty obvious. The Cadillac takes 5.7 seconds to reach 60mph followed by the Mercedes taking 6.1 seconds. The Infiniti and the Lexus take 6.2 and 7.0 seconds respectively.

2017 Infiniti QX80 Handling and Steering

Being a Luxury SUV the QX80 is designed to provide an easy, comfortable hassle-free, and safe drive experience. Infiniti QX 80 vs Lexus LX 570 Three row

Even though the Lexus LX 570 is a great SUV, it just doesn’t justify its price, the QX 80 provides a very powerful engine with greater performance numbers at a lower price.

When it comes to interior and cargo space also the Infiniti defeats the Lexus. So that makes the Infiniti a better option to go for at a much lower price.

Cadillac Escalade ESV vs Infiniti QX80

The Cadillac Escalade ESV is a $76, 590 SUV that features a 420hp powerhouse. It is the only car in this bracket that overpowers the QX80. It has better performance, cargo space, fuel economy, and is the most costly.

But Cadillac has one thing that Infiniti lacks, the Cadillac is equipped with the latest modern-day technologies, features, and infotainment system. In simple words, Cadillac Overpowers the Infiniti QX80 in every aspect has proven itself to be the best in the class SUV.

Mercedes-Benz GL450 vs Infiniti QX80

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 is pretty famous for their ride experience, luxury, power, performance and are considered as the most versatile SUV today. It is modern, luxurious, and features several high-end features.

The GLS 450 features a less powerful 362 hp engine which offers better acceleration and fuel economy than the QX80. With a price tag of 68,695, the GLS is a better option than the QX80 but in case you prefer old school simple but luxurious car then the Infiniti QX80 wins fair and square.

Final Verdict

The Infiniti QX80 is a luxurious car from its core design for smooth comfortable rides suitable for professional use or long rides but, it also performs extraordinarily in off-road or extreme conditions. The QX80 has only one major drawback and that is being outdated, most of its standard features, infotainment features, and even the body design are old and controls are analog. With a price tag of only $63,850, it is the most affordable luxury SUV you can get. In terms of luxury and safety, this car has no match. Infiniti also made sure that it doesn't suffer for its lack of techs. So, if you don't care about the tech and stuff this is the one for you.
