Hyundai is going to replace its N’s 2.0-liter engines with EV drivetrains. The Hyundai Sonata N's 2.5-liter engine is also going to replace it in some applications. The company has not yet revealed any pricing details or its exact release date.
Hyundai Might Replace The N’s 2.0 Liter Turbo With EV Drivetrains

Hyundai has revealed that its Sonata N’s 2.0-liter turbo four will be soon replaced by EV drivetrains. The 5 N will be the first high-performance hatchback for the automaker’s electric year in 2023. As per the report, the Hyundai Executive Technical Advisor, Albert Biermann, discussed the part of the ICE revamp that happens along with the electric introductions. 

In Australia in the year 2018, the N with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder was in the i30 N hatchback, and that powers a brace of N and N Line models in the global markets. This will be cut from the N lineup due to Euro 7 emissions regulations. Therefore, the suggestion was for the engine to be replaced by an electric powertrain in the smaller offerings.

As the 2 liter engine is retired, the 2.5 liter engine in the Sonata N line will take over and continue to power the second generation i30 N sedan. It's a Hyundai Elantra N. According to Beirrmann, "the i30 N, at least the sedan version, is quite safe, so we will see the next-generation car with a new petrol engine, as it is already in our long-term plans." 

Accordingly, it is quite good news for some markets that the 2.5 liter in the N line is more powerful than the 2.0 liter in the proper N cars. Whereas the bad news for the markets, along with the Euro 7 regulations, is that they may not get it either. Biermann also stated that "other markets, like Europe, are dreaming and there is a good chance that there will be no further combustion engine N cars in some markets with Euro 7 regulations."

Therefore, just as Hyundai wanted to hold back some engines from some markets, the automakers don't want to hold back the visceral feedback of an ICE powertrain. Biermann has also stated that while driving an N EV, "the idea is to come pretty close to the feel and sound of the DCT in the i30 N hatch" and down to "the same jolt and downshift vibrations you experience in our ICE N cars."

In an " N e-shift", there is a virtual dual-clutch gearbox with real paddle shifters, speakers, and some sort of feedback system responsible for sound and fury that already includes a virtual popping rev limiter along with a virtual crackling overrun. 

Overall, Hyundai and its testing setup on the RN22e rolling lab have the logic 5N dialed in. There is another option to download more vehicle character sounds over the air and, at the same time, have the option to turn off the system.
