Volvo has registered a trademark for the C60 nameplate recently, and this is most likely a hint that the C60 SUV will be the coupe version of the XC60 electric SUV. The C60 will sit atop the XC60 electric range, and you can expect a base price in the $70-80,000 bracket.
Volvo C60 Reveal Is In The Works

Volvo has been working on creating an all electric lineup just like most other car makers now, and in the past few months and years, they have introduced a few EV models of theirs, including the XC40 Recharge, C40, and the latest, the EX90

These are the vehicles that use all electric powertrains, however, there are also a bunch of other hybrid powertrain options that you can choose from if you are into sustainability.

Volvo has been seen applying to trademark the C40 and C60 names for quite a long time—exactly, since 2001. And they have abandoned the trademarks once during this time. And again, they were fined for the same trademark, which was accepted, and they added the C40 and C60 names to their portfolio.

However, in December 2022, they reapplied for the C60 trademark, hinting that a C60 SUV might just land on US shores very soon.

Now that the C40 has already been launched, we believe that Volvo is going to bring in a car called the C60, which will be based on the XC60 SUV but will come with a nice sloping roof line, giving it a stylish coupe look overall. We are not very sure about the powertrain options or how much power your right foot will get to play with just yet.

For their electric vehicles, Volvo has created a new platform called SPA2, which is a dedicated EV platform. Also, there will be an updated platform that new cars will sit on, which will be called the GPA platform.

The XC60 currently has two powertrain options: ICE and hybrid, with the base ICE model costing around $44,000 and the base hybrid model costing $57,200 from the factory.

The C40 electric SUV is the only car that comes with coupe-SUV styling, and it can be considered a smaller version of the upcoming C60 SUV. The C40 comes with an estimated 226-mile electric range. So you can expect similar numbers from the upcoming C60, if not faster and more efficient.

When launched, the C60 will be competing against the likes of the Cadillac Lyriq, Audi Q8 e-Tron,Rivian R1S, and BMW iX,. So it is probably going to be available with a dual electric motor setup producing somewhere close to 400 horsepower.

This also gives us a good idea of what we can expect to pay for the Volvo. Its competitors range in sticker price from around $62,000 to above the $100,000 barrier for the IX’s base model.

Considering that the C60 won’t be a flagship model in Volvo’s lineup, you should expect it to cost somewhere between $70,000 and $80,000 for the base variant.
