2022 BMW M8 for sale

Back after a one-year sabbatical in 2021, the new 2022 BMW M8 Coupe returns this year with just the Competition variant as standard. For 2022, although, both the body styles M8 Coupe and 2022 M8 Gran Coupe join the lineup, whereas the 2022 M8 Convertible also follows suit with the power-packed 2022 BMW M8 Competition model. The light-weight M carbon bucket seats are also available as an individual option with the BMW 2022 M8 this year.

2022 BMW M8 Buying Advice

We recommend the 2022 BMW M8 Gran Coupe for a price of $131,995, if you're looking for a luxury car, that ticks all the performance boxes, but not at the expense of practicality. If you're in the market for an older M8 model, do check out the 2020 BMW M8 Coupe, as, despite the increase in price, it does come with a number of packages on offer. Further, you can also opt for the 2019 8 Series or rather the M850i trim in the coupe variant to save more money.

The 2022 M8 is all about offering great performance and satisfying track behavior behind a simplistic exterior and M8 interior front. True performance aficionados will be thrilled with the 2022 M8 doing the sprint from 0-60 MPH in just 2.5 seconds, along with a top speed of 190 MPH. It goes up against the likes of the Bentley Continental GT V8 Coupe, Porsche 911 Turbo, and the Jaguar F-Type R. While the Porsche brings along a more engaging driving experience and the Bentley rules the segment with its uber-luxe interiors, not to forget the unbelievably attractive F-Type.

Now available for sale, the prices for the BMW 2022 M8 Coupe start at a Manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $131,995. Furthermore, with the added convenience of four doors, you can also opt for the 2022 M8 Gran Coupe at the same price. The average prices for the 2022 M8 Competition range from anywhere between $130,000 to $155,000, depending on the package options, the color of your choice, and location among other things. Finance offers start at $2,355.month for a 60-month duration while lease deals start at $2,060 for 36 months.

Buying Advice

As there is no other trim option to opt for, the Competition trim is the only one to go for, and it’s filled up to the brim with features. The Competition trim is a track-ready tool and comes with features like Weight-optimized dual exhaust system with M sound control button, Brake Energy Regeneration, Active M Differential, Adaptive M Suspension with electronically controlled dampers and M-specific kinematics and elastokinematics, and more for a thrilling driving experience.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 2022 BMW M8 is officially back now for the US market after being absent in the year 2021, and for the 2022 model, the new BMW M8 is fully locked and loaded to clear away all its competition without breaking a sweat. It’s now only available in its full-blown ‘Competition’ avatar. The prices start at $131,995 including the $995 destination fees. The 4.4L twin-turbo V8 in the Competition guise propels the coupe to 60 MPH from standstill in lightning-quick 2.5 seconds

BMW makes cars that offer “Sheer Driving Pleasure” but true performance aficionados know that the ultimate legacy and highest performance is reserved for its M-badged cars only. The BMW cars with the M badge have been loved for decades for their powerful engines and physics-defying performance on the track. Add to that the higher reliability, complimentary maintenance, and lower cost of ownership as compared to its rivals from its country of origin, and the 2022 M8 does make a very strong point in the performance luxury coupe segment.

Buying Advice

As there is no other trim option to opt for, the 2022 BMW M8 Competition Coupe trim is the only one to go for, and it’s filled up to the brim with features. The Competition trim is a track-ready tool and comes with features like a Weight-optimized dual exhaust system with an M sound control button, Brake Energy Regeneration, Active M Differential, and Adaptive M Suspension with electronically controlled dampers, and more for a thrilling driving experience. Also, we'd recommend you opt for the M carbon package too.

Features
9.0/10

For the 2022 model year, the new 2022 BMW M8 is available in only one trim option, i.e. the M8 Competition trim. It is a good thing, and now you get a track-ready option as standard. The coupe comes with a variety of features as standard like Dynamic Cruise Control, M Carbon Roof, Heated Front Seats, Armrests & Steering Wheel, Extended Merino Leather upholstery, and much more.

BMW has gone all-in with respect to the M8 coupe and this means the majority of the creature comforts and interior features like the 12.1-inch Live Cockpit Pro digital gauge cluster, ambient interior lighting, Laser LED headlights, head-up display, BMW Teleservices, and much more are all standard, unlike its rivals from Porsche

Fuel Economy
8.0/10

The BMW 2022 M8 is claimed to deliver 15 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on highways. You can't expect something frugal from a machine that is track-focused. The combined M8 MPG efficiency comes to 17 MPG. With a fuel tank capacity of 20.1 gallons, you can expect a range of 301 miles, 422 miles, and 341 miles on a full tank of gas in city, highway, and combined conditions, respectively.

The Porsche comes with a smaller capacity boxer engine and produces the highest power output of 640 HP. Its expected fuel efficiency figures are similar to the BMW M8. The Jaguar F-Type R Coupe can also be considered fuel-efficient considering the cubic capacity of its larger engine. The Continental GT on the other hand is marginally more frugal and employs a larger gas tank which offers class-leading touring range.

Interior
9.5/10

Although the design doesn't strike us as very imaginative, the leather surfaces are beautifully stitched together and the trim pieces are appropriately upscale - Car and Driver

The 2022 BMW M8 gets some really upmarket and premium interiors that are a part of most of the M-models. The M8 interior dashboard is trimmed in Nappa Leather finish along with the steering wheel. The trim pieces inside the cabin are made from carbon fiber material and look sporty. The 2022 M8 comes with a 12.1-inch touchscreen multimedia display and a 10.25-inch central information display that is in direct sight of the driver. The multi-input iDrive 7.0 system is operated by voice, touchscreen, and iDrive touchpad Controller. The modern design of the digital instrument cluster optimizes driver info, while the Head-up Display projects key info just below the driver's line of vision.

The features like Soft-close automatic door operation, Multi-color adjustable ambient lighting, Front ventilated seats, Heated Front Seats, Armrests & Steering Wheel give it a premium appeal in addition to being sporty. The M8 interior seats are wrapped in Merino leather upholstery, and the headliner is covered in Anthracite Alcantara material. The front two seats are separated by a center console which includes controls for the audio system and air conditioning. The customizable display is another intriguing feature of the new BMW M8 that changes its interface depending upon your choice of driving mode.

All cars except the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe and the Porsche 911 Turbo S come with a seating capacity for four people. The BMW M8 comes with much less headroom and legroom space when compared to its rivals. The M8 comes with the highest cargo capacity of 14.8 cu-ft, which is good for a car of its size and configuration. The Bentley Continental GT provides better cabin space as compared to its competition. Porsche offers the least cargo capacity with its rear seats folded but offers an additional cargo capacity of 4.5 cu-ft in the front luggage compartment.??€?€?€?/p>

The M8 won't readily for a lesser model - CarBuzz

The 2022 BMW M8 looks track-ready from any angle you see it. It comes with a long silhouette and sporty contours along with wide shoulders and a low stance which very well conveys its sporty intentions. The BMW design team has also made the car aerodynamic by adding side air breathers and a sloping hood. The front aggressive intakes help in offering better performance and cool down the throbbing V-8 in a more efficient way. Buyers also get an option to choose from a range of 13 paint color options to choose from and there are changes to its dimensions

The front fascia is a typical BMW with a split kidney bean grille and two aggressive LED headlamps. The sides get a beautiful sloping roofline and power-folding heated side mirrors. The M-type gills help with aerodynamic efficiency. The rear gets an M-type spoiler and twin exhaust tailpipes which just amplifies the performance aura of the car. The roof is also a carbon fiber unit and blends well with the overall design philosophy. The 20” M Star-spoke bi-color alloy wheels look magnificent and add to the sporty flavor.

The 2022 BMW M8 comes with a good ground clearance of 5.0 inches, just second to the Bentley and Porsche. It also weighs considerably less than the Continental GT but is on the heavier side when compared to the likes of Porsche and Jaguar. The Bentley is also wider which opens up more interior space for the occupants. The Porsche 911 has the smallest wheelbase which helps it with better handling and cornering abilities. It is also the lightest and hence boasts of a better power-to-weight ratio as compared to the competition. It is also considerably lower which gives it an aerodynamic advantage.

Some of the standout exterior features of the 2022 BMW M8 Competition Coupe are:

  • Shadowline exterior trim
  • M Rear spoiler
  • M Carbon Roof
  • Twin exhaust tailpipes
  • Signature M gills
  • 20-inch M Star-spoke bi-color alloy wheels

Safety
9.0/10

2022 BMW M8 Competition Vs 202 Bentley Continental GT V8 Coupe

While both the coupes stand in a very different budget range, they both are power cruisers with plenty of luxury amenities on offer. While there is no comparison to the luxe appeal of the Bentley, BMW aces the performance part.

It gets much more standard features and technology and is easier to maintain in long run. The complimentary maintenance, the marginally larger trunk, lower price tag, and the track-ready performance, all tilt the scales towards the 2022 M8 Coupe.

2022 BMW M8 Competition Vs 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo

The 2022 Porsche 911 will boast of a similar road scraping performance as the present model. It is the fastest of the lot with more horsepower and handles even better. However, considering its current price, the 2022 version will be more expensive and exclusive at the same time.

Also, the list of standard features is rather small and buyers need to spend even more by opting for the necessary options. It will also be less practical as compared to the M8. The extra premium you’ll be paying is for its track-ready approach, better dynamics, and timeless Porsche elegance.

2022 BMW M8 Competition Vs 2022 Jaguar F-Type R

The 2022 Jaguar F-Type R is expected to be priced relatively less than the M8. However, it will offer less performance and seating capacity as compared to the M8. The exterior and interior styling is one of the best in the segment and it's not too bad in terms of handling.

The two-seater F-Type will be low on practicality and won’t be able to offer the sheer driving pleasure of the M8. The F-Type is a good performer but is a no-match for the M8, and it will be strictly for Jaguar fans or the ones with a stricter budget.

Final Verdict

The 2022 BMW M8 Competition now offers better performance and proves to be track-ready in most scenarios with its better handling and better optional braking features. It also comes with a host of advanced safety features that will ensure your peace of mind. The infotainment system is also loaded enough to entertain and inform you. Overall the pros of the 2022 M8 Coupe outruns its rivals in most aspects, so we won't mind recommending this Bavarian to you.
