2022 BMW X6 M SUV for sale

Very few cars are there that designate a proper thrill of a furious SUV. With a sportier version of the X6, the BMW X6 M is the most powerful SUV the manufacturer has built. In terms of power, this machine's twin-turbocharged V8 provides enough to disappear from enthusiasts' eyes. Coupe-style SUV's sloping roofline aids in empowering aerodynamic efficiency. The cabin is cushioned with sports-oriented bucket seats and detailed styling of carbon fiber. Unlike the sport design approach from inside and exterior, the ride quality is a bit on the harsh side that anyone would not agree with. The X5 holds a better cargo space.

Buying Advice

If shoppers are ready to pay over $100k, then CARHP says approaching optional packages won’t be harmful. If you are hungry for more power, then the competition package can make things–otherwise, it is not that worthy. Though going for an assistive driver package is a sign of sanity. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane keeping assist, and other features that play a prominent role make driving easier and safer. BMW X5 M is also an alternative to look upon that boasts an approximate amount of power and feature offerings with a bit lesser price tag.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

For the 2022 generation, BMW insists on bringing modest changes. It now appears with an updated Bluetooth technology standard on all models, however, shoppers won't be happy as the manufacturer removes wireless charging pad from the standard offerings list. Other minute alterations include a new Drew Grey metallic exterior shade, Silverstone extended Merino leather upholstery, and revised optional packages. In the segment, the vehicle has classmates like the Audi RS Q8, the Maserati Levante, and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

Features
6.0/10

X6 M Sport is the upper version of X6. Being a single trim, it comprises a V8 powerhouse that provokes 600 horsepower from the twin turbochargers. With paddle shifters, it runs on the 21-inches wheels with run-flat performance tires. A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen supports the integration of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, 16-speakers Harman Kardon premium audio, and parking sensors are standard offerings to justify its price of over $100k.

Pairing with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the SUV runs on the track with its all-wheel drive (AWD) system. Dragging an authority of ample power, it completes 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and a quarter-mile run in under 10 seconds. The top speed of the BMW X6 M matches that of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The 2022 Audi RS Q8 has the highest top speed. Price of the X6 M is the lowest of all and it offers the highest horsepower. The 2022 Cayenne Turbo is the most expensive vehicle on our list. Quarter-mile timings of the BMW are the lowest of all. Audi RS Q8 is the fastest to catch a 0-60 speed. 2022 Levante costs more and shows more top speed than Audi, but takes the most increased time to catch speed. Audi fetches the highest torque at the lowest rpm in the comparison.

2022 BMW X6 M Ride and Handling

The ride quality of the BMW X6 M is not cushioning under your head. Though its lightning performance is there to satiate power appetite. Acceleration is flashy. Front bucket seats with sport intention catch you easily and are very comfortable for long rides. Paddle shifters behind the steering are super conscious. The steering wheel is grippy and highly attentive; it counts the heating function on the standard level. Shifts are incredibly quick that you do not even feel the gear swaps. Adaptive suspensions freely let you choose between a pleasant smooth driving style or a sporty performance. Around the corners, it is sharp and it has a turning radius of 42 ft. BMW covers three drive modes. The Comfort softens suspensions and lightens the steering wheel to allow a plush ride quality. The Sport mode offers an adequate amount of throttle and makes the car a rocket. The Sport Plus mode does the same thing with more aggression and digests more fuel in exchange. Double Wishbone suspensions on the front wheel aid each wheel in reacting separately, while Multi-link in the rear permits the car to flex more. With standard 21-inch alloy wheels, high-performance tires of dimensions P295/35YR21 are evolved.

2022 BMW X6 M Braking System

Stability control automatically detects if the vehicle has exceeded handling limits and– it automatically reduces engine power and applies brakes to give control back to the driver’s hands. An anti-lock braking system helps tire rotation if it loses traction under any emergency conditions. Forward collision mitigation warns you of an upcoming front collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios. Optional steering assist enhances the forward collision mitigation system with steering-based collision avoidance. Emergency braking assists warn of an anticipated collision ahead and if no action is taken, it brings the vehicle to a complete stop to avoid a crash.

The BMW holds a difference of extra four pounds from the Porsche Cayenne. The curb weight of the Audi is the highest of all. Maserati Levante showcases the lightest body. Audi RS Q8 appears to be holding the enormous brake calipers on its front wheels, while behind the vehicle, the BMW has got the largest rotors on the rear wheels. Considering brake calipers and curb weight of Levante, an educated guess concludes that it stops faster than Audi. The braking distance of the X6 M has a possibility of being lesser than that of Audi or the equivalent of the Porsche.

Fuel Economy
7.0/10

Mileage numbers of the X6 M are not disappointing when we look into the class it belongs to and the engine it endorses. The car manages a combined mpg of 15 (similar to that of X5 M) while showing 13 mpg in city driving and 18 on the highway. After filling a fuel tank of 22.4 gallons, this coupe-style SUV attains a range of – 291.2 miles in the city, 403.2 miles on highways, and 336 integrated.

Maserati Levante is the SUV that offers the top mileage on the highway and combined. While driving in the city, the Porsche carries out the most. Though the combined mpg of BMW matches with Audi RS Q8, it stands behind with one mpg when running on the highways. Porsche is pushed with the biggest fuel tank and hence it manages an extensive range of all. The lowest fuel capacity is tagged with the Maserati Levante. Fuel tanks of Audi and BMW are of approximate sizes.

Interior
9.9/10

Sports with icing of luxury elements we would say when asking about the cabin of BMW X6 M. A decent-sized door offers easy diving in and out of the vehicle. A generous amount of upliftment from the ground ensures a high ride experience. Front seats hold a structure of sporty approach but are highly prosperous –heated on standard, ventilation, and massaging with option. Second-row seats lack headroom due to the sloping roofline. With standard leather upholstery, the car leaves traces of carbon-fiber accents all across the cabin. Front row doors are equipped with soft padded material of leather and surpass controls for seat adjustment and window, while on the second door panels are a bit shorter. The steering column is tilted and telescopic by default and ensures numerous amounts of control within reach of fingers. Dashboard is clean with an infotainment touchscreen of 12.3-inch measurement– that merges with the block of the instrument panel. Below the screen, AC vents are included with a chrome strip that passes from one end to the other of the dash.

The center console holds two armrests of good sizes and height–that gain storage underside. This time no wireless charging as standard. Interior of the BMW X6 M is quite serene rather unlike the sound of the thundering V8. Across the cabin, the car differentiates versions by showcasing M Sport badges. Even rear passengers are blessed with two AC ducts. All controls and buttons are under the prescribed circumference of the driver.

RS Q8 has the highest space for cargo behind its first and second rows. The front row of BMW X6 M is roomier than that of Audi’s– but cargo carrying capacity of BMW is the least of all. Maserati brings an equivalent cargo carrying area that of Audi behind its second row. As the length of the Maserati is more than Porsche and the Audi, we assume it to have an airy cabin than both. Cayenne turbo brings cargo space similar to RS Q8 behind its second row.

Highlights of the interior features –

  • 14-way driver seat
  • 14-way passenger seat
  • 40-20-40 foldable front-faced rear seats
  • Power tilt and telescopic steering column
  • Power rear windows with fixed 3rd-row window

How Intuitive is the 2022 BMW X6 M infotainment system?

On the X6 M, a large 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen offers an integration to attach Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. Using BMW iDrive software makes controlling more creamy and adorns the overall experience. The screen is attentive and bright and BMW suggests controlling it using gestures, voice commands or center mounted rotary controller. On a standard basis, it brings along a navigation system, and surround-view camera system. 16-speaker Harman Kardon's audio is pretty bouncy and has a proper balance of lows, mids, and highs.

Highlights of the infotainment features–

  • FM radio
  • Speed compensated volume control
  • Steering wheel controls
  • Voice activation
  • Radio data system
  • 20GB internal memory
  • Harman Kardon surround sound
  • Audio theft deterrent
  • Window grid and roof minted diversity antenna
  • Real-time traffic display
  • Optional heads-up display
  • 2 LCD monitors in the front
  • Streaming audio

Exterior
9.9/10

Exterior impressions of the X6 M imitate that of the X6. A slanting roofline that merges with the rear end without hesitation. The coupe-style design makes the vehicle more aerodynamic by passing air through it effectively. Front portion holds a bonnet that hides a lightning twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The engine bay lid with the raised line offers a more muscular look. The X6 M comes with eleven exterior color options, Our recommendation is to select a competition package to make the car look more fierce. Front fascia holds the same kidney-shaped BMW grille finalized in black with the logo on top. Underpart, it passes more air vents and front parking sensors. Full LED headlights with high power projector high beam and daytime running lights. The side profile of the BMW appears elegant with the standard 21-inches alloys which are engaged with tires of proportions P295/35YR21. Window and door panels are bordered with black accents. Door handles care about the body-color theme. The car looks to carry a good amount of ground clearance. The rear end is limited with LED taillights, the BMW logo at the center, and M Sport badging on right.

The wheelbase of the Maserati Levante is the most enormous of all. The ground clearance of the BMW X6 M is the most elevated. Besides being the most weighted vehicle on our list, the Audi carries the most elongated body. Porsche Cayenne shows the shortest wheelbase. Maserati is the car with the lowest curb weight, and it conforms ground clearance with RS Q8.

A glance at the exterior design of the BMW X6 M includes–

  • Compact spare tire mounted under the cargo
  • Clearcoat paint with badging
  • Body-colored front bumper
  • Body-colored rear bumper with black rub strip
  • Black window trims with black windshield
  • Body-themed door handles
  • Body-matching power heated auto-dimming outside mirrors
  • Deep tinted glass

  • Cornering lights
  • Approach lights
  • LED Brake lights
  • Headlights with automatic high beams

Safety
9.0/10

This robust SUV has not gained safety ratings from NHTSA, but hosts tons of safety features by default. Standard blind-spot monitoring alerts the driver if a vehicle is in its blind spot. Parking sensors care about the overall visibility around the vehicle in tight parking situations. The optional automatic lane changing feature uses several sensors to safely change lanes when the turn signal is applied. The Adaptive Cruise Control helps sustain a safe distance between Audi and vehicle ahead of it. A rear cross-traffic alert informs driver if a vehicle is approaching from the left or right when the driver is in reverse and backing out of a parking space.

Ahead of that, it also appears with more safety features

  • Pre-collision safety system
  • Post-collision safety system
  • Electronic stability control
  • ABS and driveline traction control
  • Blind spot and lane departure warning
  • Dual front side-mounted airbags
  • Front and rear head airbags
  • Airbags occupancy sensors
  • Child seat anchor
  • Rear door child safety lock
  • 4 wheel ABS
  • Brake drying
  • Front and rear ventilated brakes
  • Emergency braking preparation
  • Emergency braking assist
  • Tire pressure warning
  • Dusk sensing headlamps
  • 2 front and 3 rear headrests
  • Rear center 3-point seatbelts
  • Remote anti-theft alarm

Competition
9.0/10

  • 2022 BMW X6 M vs. 2022 Audi RS Q8

BMW costs less money and offers more power output. RS Q8 brings less power but is comparatively faster. Both have a good amount of passenger volume, but Audi leaps with more cargo capacity. BMW X6 M has similar mileage and range number that of Audi. RS Q8 brings bigger calipers in its front wheels, while BMW carries more ground clearance.

  • 2022 BMW X6 M vs. 2022 Maserati Levante

Levante costs more but has not that exciting performance figures. It has lesser curb weight. BMW has a larger fuel capacity and hence it manages good range in the city, while with a major mpg number and decent-sized fuel tank, the Levante ensures better range on the highways. The Interior of BMW is as lavish as the Levante has. Levante’s wheelbase is longer while X6 M’s ground clearance is higher.

  • 2022 BMW X6 M vs. 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Porsche appears with an extra $20k more price tag but has an identical spec sheet. Despite having a gap of over fifty horses, both take the same amount of time to catch 0-60. The BMW completes a quarter-mile distance faster. Cayenne Turbo brings more cargo behind the first-row seats. The BMW has an extended wheelbase and handsome ground clearance. The infotainment touchscreen on the Porsche is designed to be driver-centric. The Exterior aesthetics of BMW are more pleasing.

Final Verdict

There is no doubt, the car delivers a great amount of value over its rivals, but the same engine can be found on the X5 with more headroom in the rear seats. It offers tons of standard features in tech, safety, and driver assistance. The seats are comfortable meanwhile rear seats can be an issue for taller people. Steering wheel with paddle shifters makes the transmission softer. The infotainment touchscreen is great with standard 16-speakers Harman Kardon to surround audio. The engine no doubt offers thrilling performance. Cargo capacity is a little drawback, but the Audi RS Q8 can complete it. Maserati Levante has the largest wheelbase, however, the Porsche does not seem to be an appropriate choice.
