2022 BMW 5 Series for sale

Over the years BMW has gained popularity for making great practical and reliable cars that offer a compelling interior. The BMW 5 Series has got good off-road and towing capabilities with great performance. Luxury Sedans are becoming popular these days with the increase in demand. The handsome looks of the BMW 5 Series attract many young buyers. The 2022 BMW 5 Series hasn’t had many upgrades planned. Notably, the 5 Series Sedan was completely revamped in 2021 so expect no major changes for 2022.

Buying Advice

We would go with the BMW 540i. It is power-packed with a 335 hp turbocharged six-cylinder engine that is efficient enough for most driving needs. We recommend adding a Driving Assistant Plus package that includes safety aids like adaptive cruise control and value-added driver aids.

Comparative Analysis against Competition

The 5 Series justifies its price tag with its great performance and great interior features. Since the introduction of this vehicle, it has kept well with the rapidly growing Luxury Sedan industry. Some of the main competitors of the 2022 BMW 5 Series are the Mercedes Benz E Class, the Audi A6, and the Volvo S90; each one of them equally appealing as compared to the others. It’s just a matter of time to see which car emerges as the top luxury sedan car for 2022 in the US.

Features

Expect some shuffle in the trim levels and a few color options here and there along with a minimal exterior change. 2021 5 Series came in 2 trims, the 530i, and the 540i. The 2022 model is also expected to get the same set of trims.

Fuel Economy
8.5/10

The base 2.0L turbocharged inline-4 engine in the 530i has proved to be the most fuel-efficient. The 2022 BMW 5-Series returns 25 MPG in the city and about 33 MPG on the highway. However, the 3.0 L turbocharged inline-6 motor in the 540i trim is a bit less efficient and gives 22 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highways.

Interior
9.5/10

As soon as you enter the car, you will be mesmerized by the cabin's exquisite leather upholstery. The 2022 BMW 5 Series has a luxury vibe to it with its high-quality materials. Even the base models feel premium with their upscale materials. The space in the front is excellent so taller folks won’t find any issues getting in and out of the car. The dashboard is designed like a cockpit of a fighter jet. The doors and the dashboard are so streamlined that it looks like one single piece.

The two-tone interior throughout the car looks beautiful. Small bits of wood finishes make the car feel more premium. The center console has a lot of buttons with the infotainment system integrated into the dashboard. Leather seats are standard with three variants of Sensatec leather upholstery namely Canberra Beige, Cognac Perforated, and the Black Perforated. Along with this, there is another Dakota leather upholstery and three variants of optional Nappa leather upholstery which are $1500 and $2500, respectively.

2022 BMW 5 Series Sedan Dashboard

The front seats are cushioned and are very comfortable. The bolstering on the seats makes it look sporty as well. The armrest is wide enough and comfortable for both the driver as well as the passenger. At the rear, legroom is abundant. The rear seats are also cushioned and comfortable for long rides. Three adults can sit comfortably in the rear to see these days.

Exterior
9.5/10

The 2021 BMW 5 Series received a massive change in terms of interior and exterior styling along with some advanced features. The 2022 Model is expected to have the same sense of style as that of the 2021 model year.

However, the LED headlamps will be of two hockey stick shapes which are not confirmed yet and taillights will be LED. The grille on the front will be updated on the 2022 5 Series as well. The grille has a very bold look and is one’s personal preference whether it looks good or not.

9.9/10

When the 2021 5 Series was tested by the IIHS, it received excellent scores in its crash tests. NHTSA on the other hand has not tested the 2021 5-Series yet. Competition
8.5/10

2022 BMW 5 Series vs 2021 Mercedes Benz E Class

The 2021 Mercedes Benz E Class is one of the toughest competitors of the 2022 BMW 5 Series. The main reason for this is that the E Class offers a roomier cabin. The interior of Mercedes cars is very well appointed and it is no different for the 2021 E Class.

The interior of the 2022 5 Series is a bit sparse when compared to that of the Merc. So, if you are more interested in the interior experience, then the 2021 E Class is the better option.

2022 BMW 5 Series vs 2021 Audi A6

The 2021 Audi A6 is a direct competitor to the 2022 BMW 5 Series. The Audi A6 is a dignified car, much like the E Class, but with a lesser price tag. It is the least expensive luxury sedan in the segment.

It has more space than the 5 Series just like the Merc E Class. But, the 5 Series is better than the A6 in every other aspect. So, the 2022 BMW 5 Series is a better option to go for.

2022 BMW 5 Series vs 2021 Volvo S90

The 2021 Volvo S90 is one of the most luxurious and stylish cars in the segment. The Volvo 90 offers a compelling cabin, adorned with premium materials in the most classy way imaginable.

The S90, unfortunately, feels a lot more lethargic and down on power when compared to the BMW 5 Series. The most critical thing, however, is that the long-term reliability of the S90 is questionable. So, the 2022 5 Series is a better option than the 2021 Volvo S90.

Final Verdict

The 2022 BMW 5 Series has carried the styling from the completely redesigned 2021 BMW 5 Series but with more features. If you are ready to pay the extra bucks for the 2022 5 Series then you won’t have any issues as it proves its worth and is a masterpiece. BMW did not take any chances and looks like it will give a very tough competition in the market. However, the true potential of all the cars will only be known after they are launched in the public market. All in all, we highly recommend considering the 2022 BMW 5 Series for your next purchase.
