The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe comes in two trims which include a base 840i and the 840i xDrive trim, priced in the range of $85,000 and $88,000, respectively. The main distinguishing factor for both trims is that the former is rear-wheel drive while the latter is all-wheel drive. The features and specs remain the same on both trims.

The 840i trim comes with dynamic driving controls, brake energy regeneration, wood interior trim, and a head's up display. BMW also offers a Driving assistance package at a premium of $1,100, a Driving assistance professional package priced at $1,700, and a Comfort seating package priced at $1,900. As the engine options will remain unchanged, the 8 Series Gran Coupe will deliver similar fuel economy as the previous year. With the 840i trim, you'll get 22 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and a combined 25 MPG. The xDrive version will offer a slightly lower MPG. With an 18.0 gallon tank, the 8 Series has a good enough range for a performance sedan.

With its base engine, the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe has the best in class fuel economy. The Audi A7 Sportback is the closest one where the AMG GT 43 takes the third spot. If only BMW offered a bigger tank, the 8 Series Gran Coupe would have had a better range.
